Reporting to:	Surf Academy Manager

OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE

The Surf Academy Team Member is the first point of contact for guests after check-in at the main reception. Under the supervision of the Surf Academy Manager, you will prepare guests for their surf sessions by confirming bookings, issuing rental equipment (wetsuits, surfboards, and accessories), and guiding guests toward the most suitable gear based on the session format, surf experience, and the guest’s comfort level.

As surfing is new to many guests in Bahrain, this role is strongly guest-facing: you will help first-timers feel confident, safe, and excited. You will receive on-the-job training from the Surf Academy Manager to develop product knowledge and operational procedures.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Welcome guests and explain the process clearly (what happens next, where to go, what to wear, timing)
Verify session bookings and rental inclusions (time, level, package, equipment)
Ensure guests are ready on time and the guest flow remains smooth during peak periods
Fit and distribute rental equipment: wetsuits, surfboards, leashes and accessories
Support guests in choosing appropriate equipment
Answer basic questions in a friendly, reassuring way, especially for guests who are new to surfing
Receive, sort, and store equipment after use following internal procedures
Inspect equipment for damage and report issues promptly to the Surf Academy Manager
Ensure wetsuits are rinsed/clean, organised by size, and ready for the next use
Keep the Surf Academy/rental area clean, safe, and welcoming
Support Guest Experience Team when needed (guest flow, directions, queue support, general assistance)
Communicate clearly with the Surf Academy team to prevent delays and resolve guest issues quickly
Proactively flag stock gaps, sizing issues, or recurring equipment problems

Qualifications	Passion for water sports and an interest in surfing (surfing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing, SUP, diving, swimming, etc.) Comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor, guest-facing environment Confident communicator with attention to detail (bookings, sizes, timing)
Experience	Basic knowledge of surf equipment and/or board sports gear Experience in rentals/retail/hospitality in a sports, beach, or leisure environment
Professional Skills&Attributes	· Team player with great people skills, with a proactive attitude and ability to motivate and inspire guest · Must have tact and discretion in dealing both with visitors and colleagues Strong customer-service attitude: warm, calm, and professional
Personal Qualities	Willingness to learn: open to feedback and training to build surf/equipment knowledge A strong desire to get people active and improve accessibility and inclusivity for all Committed to working early mornings, later nights, weekends and holidays as required when the site is at its busiest Fluent English is required (B2 minimum), Arabic a plus (highly desirable)
