# Surface Designer ## Company Overview Not specified. ## Job Summary The **Surface Designer** is a creative and detail-oriented role focused on decal production for opal glassware. This position requires the candidate to bridge the gap between creative surface artistry and technical execution, ensuring high-quality designs transition seamlessly from concept to final printed wares. ## Responsibilities - Design aesthetic and trend-aligned surface patterns, motifs, and borders tailored for La Opala’s opal glassware collections. - Conduct market research, track global tabletop trends, and translate them into commercially viable collections. - Prepare print-ready, high-resolution artworks with precise color separation suitable for decal production. - Adapt master designs across various shapes and sizes (e.g., dinner plates, bowls, platters, tea sets) and apply accurate curvature and warping adjustments. - Prepare efficient, cost-effective decal sheet layouts to maximize printing yield and minimize material waste. - Coordinate closely with internal production teams and external print vendors to oversee test prints, sampling, and decal firing processes, troubleshooting technical print or firing issues on the factory floor. ## Qualifications - Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in surface design specifically within the crockery, ceramic, opal glass, or tableware industries. - Proven expertise in color separation for decals and precise artwork preparation. - Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and core prepress/layout tools. - Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Applied Arts, Ceramic Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Visual Communication, or related discipline. - Candidates from the National Institute of Design (NID) are preferable. ## Preferred Skills - Familiarity with basic AI design tools (e.g., AI vector tools, generative pattern scaling, automated mockups/adaptations) to boost workflow efficiency. ## Experience - Minimum of 2–3 years in surface design, specifically within relevant industries such as opalware and ceramic tableware. ## Environment - The work will be conducted in the Corporate Office located in Kolkata, West Bengal.
