This role will help Brook Green move beyond supply by supporting customers to decarbonise, reduce emissions and consume greener energy.

The Sustainability Manager will work closely with Policy & Regulation, Trading, Commercial, Business Development and Marketing teams to shape Brook Green’s sustainability strategy, strengthen its market voice and turn operational learning into practical customer insight.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Establish Brook Green as a credible sustainability thought leader through policy insight, customer content, webinars and external engagement.
  • Monitor sustainability policy developments and identify opportunities for Brook Green to influence policy in line with the interests of the business and its customers.
  • Work with Commercial, Business Development and Trading teams to develop sustainability propositions that help customers decarbonise, reduce emissions and consume greener energy.
  • Translate sustainability trends, regulation and market signals into clear, practical insight for customers and internal stakeholders.
Operational reporting and accreditations:
  • Own Scope 1 and Scope 2 reporting, ensuring emissions are accurately accounted for and reported.
  • Lead Brook Green’s own decarbonisation activity, including opportunities to improve office operations through smart technologies and better working practices.
  • Own and improve EcoVadis certification and other relevant accreditations, including ISO standards where applicable.
  • Lead the Sustainability Policy and sustainability reporting content for internal and external reporting, including the annual report.
  • Own regulatory sustainability reporting linked to REGOs, ROCs and carbon markets.
Commercial and customer value:
  • Act as a commercial asset to the business by identifying sustainability trends, policy changes and product opportunities that support customer value.
  • Support pitches, customer discussions and thought leadership activity where sustainability insight is central to the proposition.
  • Use Brook Green’s own operational sustainability learning to create relevant customer-facing content and practical examples.
  • Work with Marketing to produce regular, insightful sustainability content for customers, brokers and market stakeholders.
Leadership and stakeholder management:
  • Work with senior leadership to develop and maintain the sustainability roadmap.
  • Build and lead a small sustainability team, ensuring operational, policy and commercial sustainability activity works as one joined-up function.
  • Partner closely with Policy & Regulation, Business Development, Trading, Commercial and Marketing colleagues to hand over and scale proven propositions.
  • Represent Brook Green externally with credibility, including through webinars, customer events and industry discussions.

Skills & Experience Required:
  • Strong understanding of the UK energy market, sustainability policy and the drivers of decarbonisation and flexibility.
  • Experience developing sustainability strategy, reporting and accreditations, including Scope 1 and Scope 2 reporting.
  • Experience with EcoVadis is desirable. Experience with SECR, ISO standards or SBTi is advantageous.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to translate sustainability into customer value, product opportunities and business impact.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence creating content and delivering webinars or customer-facing presentations.
  • Credible and senior enough to represent Brook Green externally with customers, brokers and industry stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across Policy & Regulation, Trading, Commercial, Business Development and Marketing teams.
  • Able to build structure, improve reporting discipline and lead a small team in a fast-paced, growing business.
