Are you an experienced business and operations leader motivated by the opportunity to shape the future of UPM Fibres operations in Finland? We are now looking for a Senior Vice President, Fibres Finland Operations, to lead our Finnish operations including our Finnish pulp mills, UPM Timber and UPM Forest with a strong focus on transformation, profitability, people, safety and sustainable performance.

What you will do

• Lead the Fibres Finland Operations and ensure safe, reliable, sustainable and cost-competitive performance across the operational portfolio
• Translate business and company strategy into clear operational priorities, targets and execution plans
• Drive continuous improvement, productivity, asset performance and operational excellence while strengthening resilience and future readiness
• Lead and develop the Fibres Finland Operations leadership team, building accountability, collaboration and a high-performance culture
• Ensure strong people leadership, workforce capability and constructive collaboration with employees, personnel representatives and key partners
• Oversee major investments, maintenance priorities and transformation initiatives, ensuring disciplined capital allocation and delivery
• Build and maintain key external stakeholder relationships in Finland and represent UPM in relevant industry, community and authority forums
• Contribute actively to UPM Fibres leadership and cross-business collaboration
• You will be a member of the Fibres Business Area management team

Who you are

• You have extensive senior leadership experience in industrial operations, manufacturing or a comparable asset-intensive business environment
• You have a strong track record of improving safety, operational performance, productivity and profitability across complex operations
• You combine strategic thinking with decisive execution and sound commercial and financial judgment
• You are an inspiring people leader who builds trust, develops capable teams and leads change with clarity and courage
• You are an effective stakeholder leader with experience in employee relations and collaboration with authorities, communities and external partners
• You understand sustainability, regulatory requirements and the opportunities created by technology, digitalization and new ways of working
• You have a relevant university degree and communicate fluently in English and Finnish

Additional information about the position

The position is located in Helsinki, Finland, and includes regular presence at UPM’s operational sites.

The position holder will report to EVP, UPM Fibres.

UPM Fibres

UPM Fibres consists of UPM’s pulp and timber businesses as well as wood sourcing and forestry operations. UPM Pulp has three pulp mills in Finland and two pulp mills and plantation operations in Uruguay. UPM Timber operates three sawmills in Finland. UPM Forest secures competitive wood and biomass for the UPM businesses, manages UPM-owned and privately owned forests in Northern Europe and offers forestry services to forest owners and forest investors. | |
