Swim Coach
SUMMARY
The Swim Coach is responsible for performing a variety of duties to ensure the success of the Turtles Swim Team Program.
SUPERVISION
Reports To: Recreation Supervisor - Athletics & Aquatics
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- To coach practice in accordance with Turtles Swim Team philosophy.
- Reports on deck ready to work fifteen minutes prior to the start of practice.
- Creates and utilizes a lesson plan with direction from the Recreation Supervisor.
- Maintains professional manner at all times.
- Wears one-piece bathing suit underneath uniform while coaching.
- Communicates with athletes in a manner to which is understood by all athletes under your direction.
- Knowledge of all competitive strokes and the ability to get in the water and demonstrate strokes as needed.
- Answers questions and responds to concerns from parents and patrons before and after practice. Refers any problems or issues to Assistant or Head Coach.
- Assesses athletes' progress and abilities.
- Ensures all equipment used during practice and/or swim meets is put away and stored properly.
- Completes all necessary paperwork completely and on time, to include: attendance, progress reports, etc.
- Ensures that swimmers under coaches' care are respectful to all staff and members.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety of the swim team participants.
- Complies promptly with all requests and directions given by Assistant Coach, Head Coach, or Aquatics Supervisor. Respects the decisions and authority of supervisors.
- Ensures that all possible safety measures are observed, including the use of equipment and proper surveillance of program participants in accordance with Red Cross safety standards.
- Completes accident and incident report forms to be turned in to the Aquatic/Facility Supervisor.
- Attends required trainings and meetings.
- Performs maintenance duties when assigned.
- Performs related duties as required.
