As a Swim Instructor at City Center YMCA (265 Harrisburg Avenue, Lancaster, PA), you’ll turn pool time into real water-confidence—because safety comes first and every skill learned can be life-changing. This part-time, role pays $12–$14/hour with flexible daytime, evening, and Saturday morning shifts.
You will:
- Teach YMCA swim lessons across levels using provided lesson plans and YMCA swim safety procedures
- Build strong, encouraging relationships with participants and parents/caregivers, sharing progress updates as appropriate
- Track attendance and required program records
- Follow all policies and emergency procedures; complete incident/accident reports when needed
- Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings as requested
Required qualifications/skills:
- CPR Pro and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
- State police, child abuse, and FBI fingerprint clearances; Mandated Reporter Clearance
- Strong stroke knowledge, lesson planning/record-keeping, clear communication
- Ability to lift equipment and assist children

Parents have quick questions; you answer with clarity and calm, keeping the vibe upbeat while the focus stays sharp. The pace shifts from focused instruction to fast turnarounds, then back to those big “I did it!” moments that make the shift fly. You wrap up by tidying your area, finishing any needed notes, and heading out knowing the pool ran clean, organized, and safe.
