Sybase Database Administrator – L2

Role: Sybase Database Administrator – L2

Location: Singapore (Onsite)
Contract: 12 Months (Extendable)

Shift: Rotational / On-Call / Weekend Support / Weekend support is mandatory – every 3rd Saturday of the month / Public holiday support will follow Paris holidays, rather than Singapore holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day BAU activities, incidents, service requests and change requests.

• Provide L2 technical support for Sybase ASE and PostgreSQL database environments.

• Troubleshoot database performance, integrity and availability issues.

• Perform database backup, restore, tuning and maintenance.

• Manage production database environments in an SLA-driven environment.

• Perform database installation, upgrade and patching activities.

• Support Sybase Replication Server and PostgreSQL replication/clustering.

• Provide Application DBA support and assist with BAU application issues.

• Perform OS-level activities related to database administration.

• Manage database logs and scheduled jobs using Control-M or similar tools.

• Handle schema/object and partition management.

• Perform database maintenance including index management and DBCC.

• Support capacity planning and database estate management.

• Develop and maintain DB scripts, Shell scripts and Ansible automation.

• Participate in high-severity incidents and drive technical resolution.

• Review technology changes and identify potential operational risks.

• Collaborate with Development, Architecture, Service Management and Project teams.

• Contribute to service improvements, transformation initiatives and technology roadmap activities.

Ideal Candidate

• 5–8 years of relevant Sybase DBA experience

• Strong hands-on experience in Sybase ASE + PostgreSQL

• Experience working in a production and SLA-driven banking environment

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Comfortable handling P1/P2/high-severity incidents

• Good communication and stakeholder-management skills

• Banking BAU experience will be an added advantage

• Sybase/PostgreSQL certification is an added advantage
