System Administrator (Critical Infrastructure Support Initiatives)

Staffing firm Delan Associates is placing a System Administrator on a 1-3 year contract with a New York City government client's Critical Infrastructure project. Day-to-day involves troubleshooting production environments, building test environments, deploying apps via Azure DevOps/Octopus, and administering Windows/IIS servers on VMware/Hyper-V with monitoring and security tooling.

U.S. Citizenship is required.
Location: Must live in the New York City area
Contract Period of Performance: 1-3 years long (1 year with (two) additional years to renew)
Overview:
The company ITS is a full-service provider of information technology services. ITS provides The company with centralized network services that will encompass, but will not be limited to, systems development / design, security analysis, information processing, telecommunications and data center support services, data communications infrastructure, platform hosting, an e-mail system, internet and intranet access data security and exchange, desktop/client support, help desk, project management, applications development and quality assurance.
The company’s hardware and software platforms include, but are not limited to, IBM and UNISYS mainframe, Microsoft Windows client servers and SUN/UNIX.
ITS requires assignments to be completed within a specific time frame provided by ITS during normal work hours. The consultants assigned to these positions may be asked to work off-hours, weekends, or holidays. ITS estimates the various assignments associated with a position will be worked simultaneously and will be required over the life of the contract.

HRA JOB TITLE: System Administrator
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Critical Infrastructure support initiative entails the design, installation, customization, testing, and implementation of several enhancements to the Agency's Network, and Data Center infrastructure environments. These infrastructure related updates are crucial for the efficient maintenance and functioning of the network infrastructure, supporting the Network related security controls such as Switches, Firewalls, IDS, IPS, Proxy servers, etc., as well as its security components in the Data Center, Remote sites, as well as external entities (OTI, NYS, etc.)
Tasks & Duties
- Incident Troubleshooting and Environment Support
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in production environments, employing advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies to ensure minimal disruption collaborating with development teams.
- Persistent flow building test environments, mirroring production settings to facilitate seamless transitions and accurate testing.
- Ensure that the application environment is according to the agency standards.
- Orchestrate the deployment of applications to production environments, utilizing a blend of Windows architecture, Azure DevOps pipelines, and Octopus Deploy automation to achieve consistent and reliable releases.
- Server Administration and Configuration
- Architect and maintain IIS environments for hosting critical applications, ensuring all software configurations and optimization for performance and reliability.
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of server creation and configuration from building in VM Ware, Hyper-V and ensuring seamless integration with domain services and adherence to security protocols by configuring security components [McAfee, CrowdStrike] implementing load balancers, conduct comprehensive traffic analysis, and install quality enhancing tools like AppDynamics and other tools.
- Implement comprehensive server monitoring and maintenance using AppDynamics and other tools for performance assessment, anomaly detection, detailed reporting, routine maintenance, scheduled tasks management, and backup/recovery operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 Years Experience Cloud Computing and Automation: Windows IIS & Azure administration.
- Minimum 4 Years Experience End-to-End Server Support: Building servers in Hyper-V, domain integration, security components installation, IIS setup, application hosting, and load balancer administration.
- Minimum 4 Years Full Stack Experience with programming languages Full Stack Python, .NET, and SQL Database.
- Minimum 4 Years Experience with Administrative tools ServiceNow, AppDynamics, SharePoint, and Azure DevOps.
