Role Summary
We are looking for a proactive IT System Administrator to manage and maintain our core IT infrastructure – including Active Directory (AD), Microsoft 365 (M365), and physical/virtual servers. In our retail environment, system uptime directly impacts POS transactions, ERP operations (SAP/Sage), and internal collaboration. You will be responsible for user identity management, cloud productivity tools, server health, patch management, and backup/disaster recovery. If you enjoy a mix of on-premises and cloud administration while keeping retail systems running smoothly, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
1. Active Directory & Identity Management
· Administer on-premises Active Directory (users, groups, OUs, Group Policy Objects – GPOs) and Azure AD / Entra ID (hybrid or cloud-only).
· Manage domain controllers, replication, FSMO roles, and AD health.
· Implement least-privilege access controls and periodic access reviews.
2. Microsoft 365 Administration
· Manage M365 tenants including Exchange Online (email flow, mailboxes, retention policies), SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive for Business.
· Configure and troubleshoot M365 security features: multi-factor authentication (MFA), Conditional Access policies, and compliance settings.
· Handle user lifecycle (onboarding/offboarding) and licensing optimization.
3. Server Administration (On-Prem & Cloud)
· Administer Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 roles (DHCP, DNS, File/Print Services, IIS, RDS) and Linux servers (basic maintenance) if applicable.
· Manage virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or Proxmox) – creating, migrating, and snapshotting VMs.
· Oversee cloud servers (e.g., Azure VMs, AWS EC2, or Alibaba Cloud ECS) that host POS middleware or reporting databases.
· Perform patch management, performance monitoring, and capacity planning.
4. Backup, Disaster Recovery & Security
· Implement and test backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Azure Backup, or Acronis) for servers and critical data.
· Assist in disaster recovery drills – ensuring rapid restoration of AD, M365, and retail servers.
· Coordinate with networking and security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain antivirus/endpoint protection on servers.
Requirements
Technical Skills (Must-Have)
· 3+ years of hands-on system administration experience (retail or multi-site environment preferred).
· Active Directory: AD user/group management, GPO creation/debugging, DNS/DHCP integration, AD replication troubleshooting.
· Microsoft 365: Exchange Online administration, Teams & SharePoint configuration, MFA, Conditional Access, and basic PowerShell scripting (e.g., MS Online, Exchange Online modules).
· Server OS: Windows Server administration (event logs, performance monitor, file sharing, print services). Basic Linux command line (Ubuntu/CentOS) is a plus.
· Virtualization: Experience with VMware vCenter or Hyper-V (creating clones, snapshots, resource allocation).
Preferred Certifications
· Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate or M365 Administrator Expert.
· CompTIA Server+ or Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals.
· Any cloud certification (Azure Administrator Associate, AWS SysOps) is a plus.
Soft Skills & Language
· Fluent in English and Cantonese (Mandarin is an advantage for liaising with mainland vendors).
· Strong troubleshooting logic – able to isolate root causes under pressure (store outage = lost revenue).
· Good documentation habits (runbooks, system diagrams, change logs).
Nice-to-Have (Not Mandatory)
· Experience with SAP or Sage ERP system administration (e.g., managing SAP GUI, Sage database server connectivity).
· Familiarity with POS system integration (e.g., SQL databases, middleware services).
· Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation of routine tasks.
