System Analyst (Financial Crime/ AML)

Responsibilities:

  • API & Systems Integration: Define, document, and map technical integration specifications (REST APIs, JSON payloads) between Watchlist Management tools and core banking, CRM, and onboarding platforms.
  • Watchlist Data Engineering: Configure systems to ingest, normalize, and reconcile structured and unstructured global watchlist data (Sanctions, PEP, Adverse Media) along with internal lists.
  • Event Architecture & Alerting: Design event-driven workflows to enable real-time or near real-time alert generation for downstream case management systems (e.g., Detica, Actimize).
  • System Calibration & Tuning: Develop and optimize fuzzy matching rules, filtering logic, and screening parameters to reduce false positives while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Establish data quality frameworks, validation rules, and lineage controls to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability of screening data.
  • Regulatory Compliance Alignment: Ensure solutions adhere to AML/CFT regulations (e.g., MAS, FATF, OFAC) and support audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), architecture diagrams, API data dictionaries, user stories, and process flows.
  • UAT & Testing Governance: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, and validation activities for system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Operations, Technology teams, and external vendors to gather requirements and drive alignment.
  • Issue Resolution & Risk Management: Identify, track, and resolve issues, risks, and integration challenges impacting AML screening and compliance processes.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously improve screening workflows, reduce manual intervention, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Training & User Enablement: Create training materials and support end-users during rollouts, upgrades, and process changes.
  • Data Privacy & Security Compliance: Ensure adherence to data protection and privacy regulations (e.g., PDPA, GDPR) in handling sensitive data.
  • Solutioning & Architecture Alignment: Bridge regulatory requirements with technical design, ensuring scalable, high-performance, and low-latency AML screening solutions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of working experience in application testing, development and delivery.
  • Minimum 6 years of functional experience within Financial Crime, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), or Sanctions compliance technology.
  • Good understanding and experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • A strong & assertive communicator in speaking & writing Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills

Key Domain:

  • Strong capability to write complex SQL queries, understand relational database schemas, and map data attributes across legacy and modern platforms.
  • Experience within Financial Crime, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), or Sanctions compliance technology.
  • Understanding of fuzzy matching principles, string-matching algorithms, and name screening data architectures
  • Good to have: Proficiency with REST APIs, JSON formats.
  • Database (Ability to use and understand for the purpose of analysis and design an investigation)
  • Experience in configuring, implementing, or administering any Watchlist tool modules
  • Analyse Requirements and form solutions for the application.
  • Works with external application/user teams on E2E executions.
