System Architect – Automation & Infrastructure as Code
As we partner with a diverse array of Danish companies operating on a global scale, we navigate industries that must adhere to stringent laws and financial controls, all while delivering exceptional service levels. With over 1,500 dedicated colleagues across Denmark, The Czech Republic, and The Philippines, Aeven is not just a workplace — it's a community united by a common goal: to drive innovation and operational excellence. In Denmark, we boast four state-of-the-art data center facilities, allowing us to leverage advanced technologies and provide robust solutions tailored to our clients' needs.
If you’re looking to make an impact in a dynamic environment that values expertise and collaboration, we invite you to explore joining our team at Aeven!
About the Role
Aeven is looking for an experienced System Architect – Automation & Infrastructure as Code to design and build the next generation of our enterprise automation framework.
You will define and demonstrate the target architecture for Aeven’s future automation platform, turning strategic direction into practical patterns that can be standardised and scaled across the organisation. The target architecture will be based largely on modern and open technologies including Ansible, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), Terraform/OpenTofu and Packer, as well as Infrastructure as Code (IaC). It will be tightly integrated with ServiceNow, CMDB/CSDM, observability and our ITIL-based operating model.
The role also focuses on modernising existing automation, creating a consistent engineering approach across key infrastructure environments, and supporting the gradual evolution towards more intelligent and autonomous IT operations.
Responsibilities
-
Define the target architecture, standards and roadmap for Aeven's next-generation automation framework
-
Personally build prototypes and reference implementations demonstrating how key architectural patterns should work.
-
Design end-to-end automation from ServiceNow Service Catalogue through provisioning, configuration, monitoring, remediation and decommissioning.
-
Define how ServiceNow, CMDB/CSDM, observability, infrastructure platforms and automation work together.
-
Design and demonstrate patterns using Ansible, AAP, Terraform/OpenTofu, APIs and Infrastructure as Code.
-
Lead the modernisation of existing automation as Aeven moves from vSphere 8 towards VCF
-
Assess existing scripts and legacy automation and determine what should be migrated, redesigned, consolidated or retired.
-
Supervise and coach engineering colleagues in building reusable Ansible roles, playbooks, Terraform/OpenTofu modules, Packer and automation components for future Aeven services.
-
Review and optimise existing automation for reuse, maintainability, performance, security and quality.
-
Establish engineering standards for Git, CI/CD, testing, versioning, secrets management and governance of automation code.
-
Define integration between automation and monitoring/observability (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo) to enable event-driven and automated remediation.
-
Design the incident and alert management pipeline and the automated-remediation patterns that hang off it, including how alerts route into ServiceNow.
-
Establish SRE practices as architecture: SLO definition, error budgets, and capacity-management thresholds with automated headroom alerting and expansion triggers.
-
Define control-plane monitoring, capacity management and patching automation for the CloudStack and VMware control planes.
-
Work closely with the Aeven AI Platform organisation to make automation capabilities safely consumable by AI agents.
Requirements:
You are a hands-on System Architect and technical leader who can move between architecture, engineering and implementation leadership. You can discuss target architecture and ServiceNow/CSDM in the morning, build an Ansible or Terraform reference implementation in the afternoon, and then help an engineering team turn that pattern into a reusable production capability.
You have at least 5 years of experience designing automation architectures in complex enterprise IT environments and strong hands-on engineering capabilities.
You have solid practical experience with the following:
- Must have experience with Ansible and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform + Terraform and Infrastructure as Code at scale
Further knowledge with:
-
Packer and HCL
-
Git and CI/CD
-
REST APIs and API-driven integration
-
Python and/or PowerShell
-
YAML/JSON
-
Observability tooling – Prometheus, Grafana and the wider CNCF stack
-
VMware vSphere and infrastructure automation
Benefitial skills include:
-
ServiceNow, Service Catalogue, CMDB, CSDM and ITSM/ITIL
-
Designing zero-touch service fulfilment or automated infrastructure lifecycle management
-
Internal developer platforms and self-service portals – Backstage or equivalent
-
VMware Cloud Foundation
-
Apache CloudStack or another open-source cloud control plane
-
Event-driven automation and automated remediation
-
Modernising legacy automation environments – including OpenText Server Automation, Operations Orchestration or similar enterprise automation platforms
