System Engineer
System Engineer- Job Description
InZiv was founded in 2018 to address the critical quality assurance needs facing today’s most advanced display manufacturers, by developing highly specialized inspection equipment using proprietary nanoscale optics and metrology. The company’s portfolio extends to microLED, QLED and OLED technologies with the goal of providing state of the art tools for improving the manufacturing process, lowering production costs, and enabling greater access to the use of these displays by all consumers. Using our lead and expertise in these worlds, we are also at the frontier of Silicon Photonics.
As our System Engineer, you will report to the VP of Product and Engineering and co-lead the development and production of one of the most complex multi-disciplinary systems in the Semiconductors industry.
The chosen candidate is not afraid to get his hands dirty, loves a good challenge and build complex things from scratch. And is willing to travel frequently.
Position Summary:
The System Engineer is responsible for defining, architecting, developing, and managing the product. He should lead the requirements, the development, assembly, integration, quality and requirements' compliance of all system-level aspects of the company's microLEDs' SiPh inspection product. This role bridges disciplines - mechanical, electrical, software, algorithms, optical, control, communication and automation —to ensure that system and sub-systems function cohesively and meet performance, reliability, and cost targets. The System Engineer works cross-functionally to define system requirements, manage trade-offs, validate designs, and support product delivery from concept to production.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
System Requirements, Architecture and Development
- Define system requirements as a derivative of the MRD (SRD – System Requirement Document). Lead the system requirement review (SRR).
- Define system architecture for Micro LED-based and SiPh products, ensuring compliance to system-level requirements. Provide high-quality documentation (e.g., block diagrams and flow-charts).
- Lead system-level design reviews (concept design review, PDR, CDR, PRR) and decisions, balancing performance, cost, schedule, risk mitigation, and manufacturability constraints.
- Translate high-level product requirements into detailed functional specifications and subsystem-level interfaces (e.g., mechanical, electrical, software, algorithm, optics, communication, control etc.).
Engineering Requirements
- Define and manage system-level requirements and technical specifications throughout the product lifecycle. Own the system requirements matrix and ensure traceability across hardware, software, and process elements end-to-end. Validate that all sub-systems meet performance targets individually and as an integrated product.
- Mange the requirements' risks mitigation and trade-offs between requirements to ensure product delivery in accordance with the defined schedule, budget and priorities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a technical liaison between all disciplines (mechanical, electrical, algorithms, optics, software, power, control, quality etc.).
- Ensure clear communication of system constraints, interfaces, and integration, timelines and risk mitigation across teams.
- Support design for manufacturability (DFM), testability (DFT), and reliability from the early design phase.
Prototyping, Integration & Testing
- Lead system-level prototyping and validation efforts, integrating components into full system configurations.
- Oversee bring-up, debugging, and integration, characterization of early builds, including custom test setups as needed.
- Define and execute system-level validation and verification plans and testing, ensuring compliance with the product system requirements and customer's ESH and quality requirements.
Risk Management & Troubleshooting
- Identify system-level technical risks early in the development cycle and lead mitigation planning.
- Diagnose integration issues across disciplines and drive resolution with appropriate teams.
Documentation & Configuration Management
- Maintain accurate documentation for system requirements, designs, specifications, block diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), BOM, manuals and test reports.
- Ensure alignment with configuration management and engineering change control processes.
