System Engineer
Job Overview
The System Engineer plays a key role in managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, with a primary focus on Cloud Infrastructure (IaaS / VM Cloud) across both local and global cloud environments.
The role also covers the management of Branch Network Infrastructure, including MPLS and Internet connectivity provided by third-party service providers. The position is responsible for both day-to-day IT operations (BAU) and the execution of new infrastructure projects to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. System & Network Operations
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot IaaS / VM Cloud environments.
- Manage and ensure the reliability of branch network infrastructure, including MPLS and Internet connectivity, in collaboration with external service providers.
- Handle and resolve daily Service Requests.
2. Monitoring & Maintenance
- Design and establish policies and processes for Monitoring, Backup, and Log Management.
- Ensure monitoring, backup, and logging of VM and Network environments are maintained in accordance with organizational standards.
3. Project Execution
- Lead and execute infrastructure-related projects, including:
- System Migration
- New VM Provisioning
- Branch Network Improvements and Upgrades
4. Strategic Sourcing & TOR
- Define, design, draft, and review Terms of Reference (TOR) and RFP documents for the procurement of:
- IaaS / VM Cloud services
- MPLS circuits
- Internet connectivity
- Related infrastructure technologies
5. Vendor Management
- Coordinate, communicate, negotiate, and manage external service providers, including Cloud Providers, Network Providers, Vendors, Outsource Partners, and ISPs.
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure services are delivered in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
6. Consulting & Presentation
- Present technical concepts, IaaS / Network Architecture, and project implementation plans to internal teams and relevant stakeholders.
7. Performance & Optimization
- Monitor and improve the performance of VM / Cloud environments.
- Optimize infrastructure resources and network service costs to ensure efficient and cost-effective utilization.
8. Other Responsibilities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge and understanding of IaaS / VM Cloud architecture and operations.
- Good foundational knowledge of Network Architecture, including:
- MPLS
- WAN
- Internet
Vendor Management Skills
- Strong communication, negotiation, coordination, and vendor management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage Vendors, Outsource Partners, and ISPs.
