System Engineer (Linux) [$40-55k + bonus]

Salary: $40k - $55k monthly + discretionary bonus

This is a leading financial institution in Hong Kong with solid business across APAC.

Responsibilities

• Provide L1/L2 support for Linux servers supporting mission-critical banking and trading platforms.
• Monitor infrastructure availability, system performance, and operational health to meet SLA requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and support major incident management.
• Perform Linux administration including patching, upgrades, user management, security hardening, and backup validation.
• Execute operational changes, maintenance activities, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
• Work closely with application, database, network, and cybersecurity teams to resolve infrastructure issues.
• Participate in shift rotation and on-call support as required.

Requirements

• Diploma or above in Information Systems, Computer Science or relevant.
• Experience in Linux system administration or infrastructure operations.
• Hands-on experience with RHEL for administration.
• Strong knowledge of Linux administration, system troubleshooting, networking, storage, and performance monitoring.
• Experience supporting production environments with high availability and strict uptime requirements.
• Familiarity with Shell/Bash scripting and basic automation.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, ELK, Zabbix, Grafana, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of VMware and enterprise backup solutions is preferred.
• Experience supporting mission-critical systems within investment banking, securities, financial services, or other regulated environments is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure during production incidents.
• Cantonese and English speaking is a must
