Summary
System Performance Architect at Huawei's Amsterdam Research Center, designing performance technologies for HarmonyOS across OS, hardware, and chipset layers — CPU/GPU/DDR scheduling, kernel optimization, power/thermal management, and app responsiveness — driving solutions from research to deployment on end devices.
About the Role
We are looking for a System Performance Architect to develop advanced performance technologies for HarmonyOS across the operating system, hardware, and chipset layers.
You will work on areas such as CPU/GPU/DDR scheduling, kernel optimization, power and thermal management, application responsiveness, and system performance.
Responsibilities
- Design hardware-software-chip co-optimization and system scheduling solutions for HarmonyOS.
- Develop and optimize CPU/GPU/DDR scheduling, frequency scaling, resource allocation, and performance/power/thermal mechanisms.
- Analyze and resolve OS-level application performance bottlenecks affecting responsiveness and animation smoothness.
- Design and optimize high-performance system modules, APIs, runtimes, and application frameworks.
- Track industry and academic developments and translate relevant technologies into future technical roadmaps.
- Drive solutions from architecture and research through implementation and deployment on end devices.
Requirements
Strong expertise in one or more of the following:
- OS or kernel performance optimization
- CPU/GPU/DDR scheduling
- Hardware-software or chipset co-optimization
- Power- and thermal-aware scheduling
- Application/runtime performance
- High-performance system or framework design
You should also have:
- Strong understanding of operating-system architecture and performance fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience identifying and solving complex performance bottlenecks.
- Strong engineering and problem-solving skills with measurable performance results.
- Good written and spoken English and experience working with international technical teams.
Preferred
Experience with Linux, Android, HarmonyOS, kernel scheduling, DVFS, heterogeneous computing, graphics performance, memory systems, or chipset-level optimization is a plus.
The position is based in Amsterdam. Candidates already based in the Netherlands or willing to relocate are welcome to apply.
