System Support Specialist I

The IT System Support Specialist provides technical support for hardware, software, and network systems across the organization. This role ensures smooth day-to-day IT operations by troubleshooting issues, maintaining systems, and delivering excellent support to end users.
- Provide first and second level technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and hardware
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights (Active Directory, email systems, etc.)
- Monitor system performance and respond to alerts or outages
- Maintain IT asset inventory and documentation of configurations and procedures
- Support onboarding/offboarding of employees, including equipment setup and account provisioning
- Assist with data backups, disaster recovery procedures, and security patching
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors as needed
- Log and track support tickets through a help desk system, ensuring timely resolution
- Provide basic training and guidance to staff on IT systems and best practices

- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1-3 years experience in IT support, help desk, or system administration
- Working knowledge of Windows/Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office 365, and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Experience with Active Directory, VPNs, and remote support tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple support requests
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator
- Experience with ticketing systems
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) or virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Primarily office-based with occasional on-site visits to other locations
- May require after-hours availability for system maintenance or emergency support
