At PMAT, we work on mission critical systems that directly support the warfighter, designing, building, and securing modern digital capabilities across cloud, data, and software environments. Our teams tackle complex, real-world challenges where delivery matters more than theory, and innovation is driven by curiosity, collaboration, and purpose.
In this role, you’ll contribute to Naval Operational Architecture (NOA), working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense.
About the role: PMAT is seeking a motivated and technically capable System Administrator II to support the administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and sustainment of Windows, Linux, virtualization, network, and tactical computing environments. This mid-level role supports day-to-day system operations, user support, vulnerability remediation, patching, backup and recovery, system documentation, and performance monitoring across enterprise and mission-focused environments. The candidate will work with IT, cybersecurity, engineering, data, and operational teams to help maintain secure, reliable, and mission-ready systems. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, collaborative communication, and the ability to support both traditional IT infrastructure and tactical systems in a fast-moving technical environment.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Windows, Linux, ESXi, network, and tactical computing environments by supporting installation, configuration, updates, monitoring, and troubleshooting activities.
- Support system security and compliance activities by assisting with patching, vulnerability remediation, security hardening, access control, cybersecurity guidelines, and audit-ready documentation.
- Monitor server, network, and system performance by identifying issues, troubleshooting problems, supporting optimization efforts, and escalating complex technical risks as needed.
- Support backup and recovery procedures by helping maintain data protection processes, validating system availability, and documenting recovery actions.
- Provide end-user and technical team support by resolving system-related issues, answering technical questions, documenting troubleshooting steps, and coordinating follow-up actions.
- Assist with network infrastructure support by helping maintain routers, firewalls, VPNs, and related network devices in coordination with senior administrators and engineering teams.
- Support tactical systems and data environments by assisting with troubleshooting, tactical data pipeline monitoring, edge server operations, embedded GPU environments, and containerized workloads.
- Maintain system documentation, configuration records, software inventories, license tracking, hardware tracking, and End-of-Life planning inputs to support infrastructure visibility and sustainment.
