About the opportunity
Join NZX as a Systems Administrator and play a key role in implementing, maintaining and enhancing the secure, resilient infrastructure that supports New Zealand’s capital markets and NZX’s wider business operations. You’ll work across cloud and on-premises technologies, resolve complex technical issues, deliver infrastructure change, support critical systems, and drive continuous improvement. Key responsibilities
  • Administer, support and enhance NZX’s cloud and on-premises infrastructure, including secure remote connectivity solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain critical systems, managing capacity, performance, lifecycle, patching and operational resilience.
  • Respond to incidents, manage escalations and restore services, including participating in the on-call roster and after-hours support.
  • Provide technical guidance and escalation support to Desktop Engineering, Service Delivery and wider IT teams.
  • Work with architects, infrastructure teams, vendors and service providers to design and deliver new solutions, upgrades and project initiatives.
  • Identify infrastructure risks and contribute to security enhancements, governance and continuous operational improvement.
  • Develop implementation, testing and backout plans, maintain technical documentation, and keep your technical knowledge current.
To be successful in this role you will have:
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in IT Operational / Infrastructure role(s).
  • Certifications in Cloud Technologies (or similar), covering Azure, M365, and AWS.
UNDERSTANDING OF, OR EXPOSURE TO:
  • Experience administering cloud services, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, AWS instances and AWS multi-account environments.
  • Knowledge of load balancing, networking and monitoring technologies, including F5, Cisco IOS and NX-OS, Opsview and Elastic.
  • Experience with virtualisation, containers, storage and operating systems, including VMware, Docker, NetApp, Commvault, Microsoft, Red Hat, Ubuntu and Solaris.
  • Understanding of licensing, sizing, scalability, capacity planning and ITIL practices, particularly Change, Incident and Problem Management.
In addition to this you will have strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, excellent problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills and be a collaborative team player who contributes positively to shared outcomes.
