Summary
Provide day-to-day Windows server administration, patching, and VMware/Nutanix virtualization support while assisting with vulnerability remediation and Active Directory tasks for a core banking platform migration.
Description
Our client is seeking an L1 Systems Engineer to support infrastructure operations and vulnerability remediation efforts as the organization prepares for and executes major technology initiatives, including the D1 (Fiserv DNA) core platform implementation. This role will focus on day-to-day systems administration, patching, vulnerability management, service requests, incident resolution, and infrastructure support while engineers focus on strategic projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level infrastructure professional looking to broaden their experience across Windows systems, virtualization, security remediation, and enterprise infrastructure technologies in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform day-to-day systems administration across infrastructure environments
Respond to and resolve service requests and infrastructure incidents
Support vulnerability remediation efforts and track remediation progress
Assist with audit findings and infrastructure security initiatives
Administer Windows Server environments
Manage virtual machines within VMware and/or Nutanix environments
Execute backup and restore operations
Support Active Directory and Group Policy administration
Assist with server patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
Participate in change management activities and documentation
Troubleshoot infrastructure and system issues
Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and project teams
Maintain operational stability during major enterprise initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications:
3-5 years of Systems Administration or Infrastructure Support experience
Windows Server administration experience
VMware and/or Nutanix AHV experience
Active Directory and Group Policy administration
Backup and recovery technology experience
Experience with vulnerability remediation and patch management
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Linux administration
Microsoft 365 administration
PowerShell scripting and automation
Basic networking knowledge (VPNs, VLANs, TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls)
Experience with vulnerability management tools such as Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, or Nessus
Experience supporting infrastructure modernization or migration projects
Work Environment:
Hybrid work arrangement
Onsite in Madison, WI preferred Tuesday and Wednesday
Remaining days remote

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
