About the Role

Role: Systems and Workplace Engineer

Reporting Manager: Corporate IT Operations Manager

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (minimum 3 days per week in office)

The Systems and Workplace Engineer is responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimising enterprise IT infrastructure and end-user computing environments across cloud and on-prem environments. The role provides Level 2 and Level 3 technical support to ensure high availability, performance, and security of systems globally. The role also has accountability for driving continuous improvement and automation across IT operations.

Role Responsibilities:

Operational Support & Incident Management

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support across global environments (remote and on-site).
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, network, firewall, and system-related issues..
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term resolutions.
  • Participate in on-call support and critical incident response.
  • Maintain ITIL-aligned processes for Incident, Problem, and Change Management.

Infrastructure & Platform Management

  • Administer Active Directory, Azure AD (Entra ID), DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 services including Exchange, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Hands-on management of Microsoft Intune for device enrolment, compliance policies, configuration profiles, and application deployment.
  • Support and maintain Azure and AWS cloud environments.
  • Manage virtual environments (VMware, Azure VMs).
  • Support and assist Senior Network Engineer to maintain firewalls and network security infrastructure.
  • Perform system patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Devops Pipelines and powershell.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code and configuration management practices.
  • Drive standardisation and scalability of IT processes.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain security best practices across systems and firewalls.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and patch management.
  • Assist with audits and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC2).
  • Manage identity and access controls including provisioning and RBAC.
  • Manage device compliance and conditional access policies via Intune.

Projects & Engineering

  • Support infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
  • Contribute to new office setups and global expansion initiatives.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies aligned to business needs.
  • Collaborate with vendors, MSPs, and internal stakeholders.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain and update technical documentation and runbooks.
  • Document configurations, architectures, and standard procedures.
  • Contribute to knowledge base to improve team efficiency and support quality.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of desktop technologies including Windows, MS Office, email security and malware protection.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune for endpoint management, compliance, and deployment.
  • Practical experience configuring and troubleshooting firewalls and network security appliances.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Broad understanding of systems, applications, and operating environments.
  • Degree-qualified or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator, or Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator.
  • Strong problem-solving capability, able to resolve complex issues and mitigate risks.
  • Resilient, confident, and able to operate in high-pressure environments.
  • Customer-focused with strong business engagement and stakeholder management.
