Systems Engineer
SUMMARY
The SystemEngineer provides expert-level technical support for the operation,maintenance, testing, and modification of assigned systems and programs.Reviews performance of assigned systems, components, and programs andrecommends changes regarding operation, maintenance, or testing. Monitors and audits overall complianceprograms, performs system and component trending, performs system walk-downs,performs corrective action management, monitors and maintains the preventivemaintenance program for assigned systems or programs, and makes recommendationsand implements changes as needed to the items described above. The SystemEngineer provides support as the technical conscience and reliability“Champion” for the station on their assigned system or program to ensure thatequipment remains reliable and always ready to support nuclear safety and plantgeneration. The System Engineer position resides within the StrategicEngineering Department and interacts extensively with the other EngineeringDepartments, Operations, Maintenance, Work Control, and Chemistry.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering orEngineering Technology in Electrical, Computer Science or Engineering field.(Preferred)
Other: Master's degreein Engineering is the equivalent of 1 year experience.
Without a degree, five (5) years ofexperience any one or combination of the following is required:
1) Nuclear Plant Operations
2) Nuclear Plant Maintenance
3) Military Nuclear Operations orMaintenance
EXPERIENCE
Experiencewill determine the position/title and are listed below. Previousexperience in field engineering applications in support of maintenance is aplus Previousexperience in monitoring or developing preventive maintenance forelectrical/instrumentation or control systems is a plus Previousexperience in monitoring performance trends on equipment is a plus Previousexperience communicating and advocating for appropriate system repairs ormodifications is a plus Engineer I: 1 Year engineeringexperience. (Required)Engineer II: 2 Years engineering experience (minimum 1year nuclear engineering experience. Advanced technical degree equivalent to 1year experience. STP Experience strongly preferred. (Required)Engineer III: 3 Years engineeringexperience. (1 year should be nuclear related). Advanced technical degreeequivalent to 2 years’ experience. STP experience strongly preferred.(Required)Engineer IV: 4 Years engineering experience (1 year shouldbe nuclear related). Advanced technical degree equivalent to 1 years’experience. STP Experience strongly preferred. (Required)Senior: 5 Years + engineering experience. Two (2) years should be nuclear plantengineering, experience and application of engineering principles. STPexperience preferred. (Required)Staff: 8 Years + engineering experience. Advanced engineering tasks, two (2)years should be nuclear plant engineering experience and application ofengineering principles. STP experience preferred. (Required)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, implements, and administersassigned programs. Provides technical support for the operation, maintenance,testing, and modification of assigned systems or programs. Reviews performance of assignedsystems and components and recommends changes regarding operation, maintenance,or testing. Prepares/reviews/approves engineeringdocumentation as necessary (e.g.: calculations, specifications, analysis,drawings, evaluations, etc.). Performs equipment cause evaluationsof plant failures and identifies corrective actions as necessary to ensurestrong equipment reliability Utilizes various forms of software toproactively trend for incipient conditions to prevent equipment failure. Optimizes reliability vs financialeffectiveness by ownership and advocacy of planned maintenance scope. Prepares/reviews complex safetyevaluations and significant hazards review for plant repairs and conditions. Reviews and evaluates industrydocumentation and event reports for relevant application to STP and identifiesappropriate corrective actions. Coordinates work efforts withinengineering, operations, and maintenance or external vendors to collect andinterpret data, and implement recommended resolutions. Provide input to the at-power andoutage schedules, including prioritization, logic work grouping, etc for workbeing scheduled. Periodically observe Maintenancework/testing and Operations that are being performed on key systemcomponents. Perform bi-weekly system walk downs tomaintain a current awareness of system condition/performance and to obtain datafor performance monitoring depending on system or program assigned to support. Systematically adjust preventive andpredictive maintenance activities based on feedback from a variety of sources,including maintenance craft personnel, corrective, predictive and PM results(including PM as found condition codes), test results, vendor information, EPRItemplates operating experience, equipment history and system walk downs. Champion major maintenance andmodifications that impact Plant Reliability or Generation and ensure these itemsare taken through the funding process Evaluateproposed modifications to assigned systems or components, includingcost/benefit analysis, and make recommendations on which modifications shouldbe pursued Provideengineering expertise when required to support complex plant issues or requestsfor assistance from other organizations. Attendand complete Station, department or division required training as necessary forthe position and as directed by your immediate supervision Acts as "CHAMPION" for plantsystems. Advocates system or program health with an emphasis on improvingoverall plant performance and reliability

Abilityto read and interpret NRC and NEI documents to implement required programs.Abilityto obtain and maintain unescorted access Strongwritten and verbal communications skills required. Abilityto work independently and interface with all levels of personnel required. •Ability to read andinterpret engineering documents and drawings Abilityto use a personal computer and up-to-date software.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Overtime andalternate work schedules as needed Supportrotational engineering duty. Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per dayseven days per week Frequentfield inspections in a plant environment and in all kinds of weatherconditions. May require working outdoors and at night. Activities will involveclimbing ladders and entering confined spaces Travel maybe required for business trips and training depending on the position
