Systems Engineer | Aviation & Software Specifications
Contribute to a major aviation capability program as a Systems Engineer, developing software Function and Performance Specifications (FPS) across aircraft platforms, simulators and training systems. This role requires full-time onsite attendance and offers the opportunity to contribute to a complex aircraft acquisition and capability development program.

Location: RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW (preferred), or Russell Offices, Canberra, ACT (considered on a case-by-case basis).
Work Arrangement: Full-time onsite
Contract Duration: ASAP to 30 June 2027
Aviation & Software Specifications: Current active NV1 clearance (mandatory)

Essential Tasks

• Develop high-quality, traceable software Function and Performance Specifications (FPS) for aircraft, simulators, training solutions and live, virtual and constructive (LVC) systems.
• Research applicable standards, develop maintenance specifications and populate systems engineering databases.
• Draft ASDEFCON Data Item Descriptions (DIDs), evaluate tenders and conduct vendor requirements reviews.
• Engage with stakeholders, resolve complex capability risks and present technical reports to committees and boards.

Key Criteria

• Strong systems engineering capability, including software specifications, requirements development and technical documentation.
• Excellent analytical, technical writing, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills.
• Experience in Defence capability development, acquisition or aircraft acquisition is highly desirable.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience with systems engineering databases are desirable.
