- The Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the deployment, stability, security, and efficiency of the organization's IT infrastructure and end user devices. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional customer service, acting as a trusted technical partner to internal stakeholders by providing timely, reliable, and user-focused solutions.
- Aligned with the organization's Continuous Improvement (CI) culture, the Systems Engineer will champion innovation and process enhancements, leveraging technology to streamline operations and improve user experience. Success in this role requires balancing technical expertise with a strong commitment to service excellence, ensuring that IT systems not only meet operational requirements but also enable the business to achieve its strategic objectives.
- The systems engineers will operate as part of a team ensuring coverage and scale. Within the team individuals will likely specialise in a particular discipline (e.g. End User Device management, System Infrastructure, Security, M365) but will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the team in all areas. The position supports business continuity and growth by implementing best practices, optimizing system performance, and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement
- Deliver outstanding customer service by prioritizing user experience and responsiveness in all technical interactions.
- Design, deploy, and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, cloud and security platforms.
- Manage the lifecycle of end user devices (desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals), including deployment, configuration, and support.
- Monitor system and device performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement upgrades or patches.
- Ensure systems and devices comply with organizational policies and industry standards.
- Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to deliver technology solutions that meet business needs.
- Document system and device configurations, procedures, and processes.
- Support disaster recovery, business continuity planning and Cyber Incident response planning.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and contribute to CI initiatives across IT operations.
- Contribute to and alignment with Group IT technical, process and procedural standards
- Background and skills are dependent on the focus of the role and grade of the position:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA, CISSP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with a customer-first mindset.
- Experience with enterprise IT infrastructure and end user device management.
- Familiarity with Continuous Improvement (CI) principles and ability to apply them in daily work.
- Hands-on experience with technologies and vendors such as:
