About Us
Binary Evolution is a Brisbane-born managed IT services provider, looking after Australian businesses since 2008. We don't do break-fix. We partner with small and medium businesses: medical, legal, accounting, manufacturing, construction and more and take real ownership of how their technology runs. Our tagline is "We care. Technology redefined," and our clients stay because we mean it: the first client we signed in 2008 is still with us today.
We're a tight, senior team that punches well above our weight, and we're growing. That's where you come in.
About The Role
As our Systems Engineer, you'll design, implement and manage the IT infrastructure our clients depend on: servers, networks, storage, security and everything in between. Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, you'll be the technical expert our clients lean on: the person who sees problems coming and fixes them before they feel the impact.
This is a hands-on, client-facing engineering role. You won't be ticket-burning in a basement: you'll be solving real problems for real businesses and seeing the results of your work.
What You'll Be Doing
Designing and implementing IT infrastructure solutions tailored to client needs: servers, networks and storage
Designing, configuring and maintaining network infrastructure: switches, routers and firewalls
Implementing and monitoring cybersecurity measures that protect client data and systems
Building and maintaining backup and disaster recovery plans that keep businesses running when it matters
Providing expert support and troubleshooting to keep client systems highly available and performing
Working directly with clients to understand their business and recommend the right solutions: not the over-engineered ones
Monitoring client environments to catch and fix issues proactively, before they bite
Performing regular security and performance audits, and keeping documentation sharp and current
What You'll Bring
Proven experience in a systems engineering, senior support or MSP role
Strong hands-on skills across Windows Server, Microsoft 365/Azure and virtualisation (Hyper-V/VMware)
Solid networking knowledge: switching, routing and firewalls
Real-world experience with backup/DR solutions and cybersecurity tooling (EDR, patching, monitoring)
The ability to explain technical things to non-technical people, plainly and respectfully
A proactive mindset: you fix the thing nobody else noticed, and you document it
MSP experience and familiarity with RMM/PSA platforms
Australian working rights and a current driver's licence
Nice To Have
Certifications such as Microsoft, Fortinet NSE, CompTIA or Cisco
Experience with hosted infrastructure, data centres and cloud migration projects
What We Offer
$90K–$120K per year, commensurate with experience
A genuine senior team with decades of combined experience: you'll learn from people worth learning from
Real client responsibility from day one, not grunt work
Modern tooling: Huntress, Cove, NinjaOne and a modern Microsoft-centric stack
Career growth as we grow: national expansion is on the roadmap, and early engineers will lead it
A culture with zero bullshit: honest, direct, and genuinely supportive
