Key responsibilities
- Datacenter Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the datacenter, including central backend systems, corporate network layers, storage solutions, and virtualization platforms.
- Identity & Mail Systems: Act as the primary administrator for Active Directory and Microsoft Entra Services, as well as our hybrid Exchange environment (including mail gateways and internal email routing systems).
- Server Management: Maintain and optimize both centralized and decentralized server environments at the operating system level.
- Facility & Environmental Control: Responsible for the physical infrastructure of server rooms, including associated facilities, environmental sensors, and coordinating regular external maintenance.
- Escalation & Support: Handle 2nd-level service tickets regarding deployment, system support, deep-dive error analysis, and technical troubleshooting (both remotely and on-site).
- Service Monitoring: Proactively monitor internal and external IT services running at the operating system level to guarantee high availability.
- Patch & Backup Management: Execute comprehensive patch management protocols across all assigned environments and maintain robust data backup and recovery systems.
- Security & Compliance: Evaluate technical security tests and conduct routine compliance audits of all active components and production infrastructure.
- Lifecycle Management: Cooperate closely with application owner teams to plan and execute the lifecycle management of underlying operating systems.
- Asset Management & Documentation: Maintain an accurate, up-to-date hardware inventory and ensure precise, high-quality documentation of all datacenter hardware and software infrastructure.
What You Bring to the Team
- Education & Experience: Vocational or technical training with an advanced qualification in Information Technology, complemented by several years of hands-on professional experience in enterprise IT environments.
- Technical Certifications: Desirable certifications in Microsoft Server, Microsoft Cloud Services, Linux, Virtualization, Load Balancing, Mail Services, or Backup & Monitoring systems. Practical experience with Kubernetes is highly valued.
- Infrastructure Expertise: Proven background in the operations, upkeep, and management of datacenters or physical server rooms, with strong expertise in centralized and decentralized architectures.
- OS Proficiency: Professional-level expertise in navigating, configuring, and maintaining Windows Client and Server environments.
- Mindset & Work Style: Strong analytical skills, goal-oriented motivation, high operational commitment, and an independent, well-structured approach to solving complex problems.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills within complex IT divisions.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (C1 level minimum) is mandatory. Proficiency in German (written and spoken) is not required, but considered an advantage.
- Operational Flexibility: Willingness to travel as required, conduct internal training, collaborate seamlessly with supra-regional teams, and actively participate in scheduled on-call rotations.
