About the Role:
The System Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, systems software and related network infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise cloud infrastructure primarily within Microsoft Azure.
- Lead the transition from traditional infrastructure to cloud-native platforms by modernizing VMware, Windows Server, and Active Directory services while reducing reliance on legacy technologies and promoting adoption of SaaS, PaaS, and cloud-native solutions where appropriate.
- Design, build, and operate an internal cloud platform that provides self-service capabilities, standardized patterns, and a consistent developer experience for application teams.
- Own the enterprise Kubernetes and container platform including cluster lifecycle management, workload onboarding, GitOps deployments, platform upgrades, observability, security controls, capacity planning, and multi-environment consistency.
- Implement and maintain GitOps workflows using technologies such as Flux, Argo CD, GitHub, and Azure DevOps to deliver declarative, version-controlled infrastructure and platform changes.
- Develop and maintain automation, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD solutions using PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Bicep, Azure CLI, and related technologies.
- Develop reusable platform services, self-service infrastructure capabilities, and standardized deployment patterns that enable application teams to rapidly and securely deploy workloads while maintaining governance, reliability, and security standards.
- Design and support enterprise and cloud networking, including switching, routing, firewalls, and security solutions, following zero-trust principles.
- Implement monitoring, observability, backup, disaster recovery, and resiliency capabilities for critical systems and services.
- Configure, secure, and maintain Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Serve as a Tier III escalation point and participate in on-call support for complex infrastructure, cloud, Microsoft 365, identity, networking, and platform issues.
- Develop technical standards, documentation, operational procedures, and architecture best practices.
- Collaborate with business units, vendors, and IT teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions.
- Research emerging technologies and contribute to technology roadmaps, technology lifecycle planning, and long-term cloud-first infrastructure strategy.
Education and Experience:
- Relevant experience with software and hardware troubleshooting and/or repair
- Technical certification and/or relevant coursework
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some college, no degree required
- Associate degree in a related field and / or 4-6 years of experience
