What will you contribute?


As a Unix Expert Engineer (TP4), you will act as a senior subject‑matter expert within the System Operations organization. You will leverage deep expertise in Unix systems, server hardware, storage, automation, and operational excellence to ensure a robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure for mission‑critical workloads.

You will independently lead complex initiatives, drive technical strategy, and provide architectural insight to improve Unix platforms across on‑premises and cloud environments. You will mentor engineers, contribute to enterprise‑wide standards, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve sophisticated technical challenges.

Your contribution will directly impact service availability, operational efficiency, and the evolution of infrastructure services supporting global business operations.


Responsibilities & Deliverables:

As a TP4 Unix Expert Engineer, your responsibilities will include — but not be limited to — the following:

Operational Excellence & Support

- Provide senior‑level operational support for global Unix environments (AIX, Oracle/Solaris, Linux on x86, IBM Power).

- Lead troubleshooting and complex root‑cause analyses across multi‑datacenter and cloud environments.

- Handle escalated incidents, service interruptions, and critical performance issues, ensuring timely and durable resolution.

Engineering, Architecture & Delivery

- Drive design, deployment, and improvement of Unix infrastructure, including system builds, OS lifecycle management, patching, and firmware updates.

- Architect and implement high‑availability solutions, automation pipelines, and performance optimization strategies.

- Lead major technical projects with significant risk, complexity, or business impact.

- Provide thought leadership and strategic recommendations to enhance systems, processes, and service delivery models.

Standards, Governance & Best Practices

- Define, document, and enforce technical and operational standards for Unix systems.

- Ensure compliance with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Request) and align with enterprise architecture principles.

- Contribute to product or service roadmap decisions, especially regarding customization and platform evolution.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

- Act as a senior consultant for internal teams, advising on system integrations, monitoring, capacity planning, and solution design.

- Collaborate with infrastructure engineering, application support, cloud teams, and vendors to ensure smooth delivery of services.

- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively and influence stakeholders toward optimal decisions.

Testing, Validation & Optimization

- Lead certification and regression testing for Unix platform updates, patches, and major changes.

- Ensure system stability post‑upgrade through rigorous validation protocols.

- Continuously improve automation, monitoring, and operational tooling to strengthen reliability and efficiency.



Required Experience:

'Technical Expertise:

- Advanced, hands‑on experience with Unix systems administration across:Linux on x86 (Red Hat preferred , ubuntu and Suse) Oracle/Sun Solaris (SPARC & T‑Series)

- Strong knowledge of server platforms: HP, Dell

- Deep expertise in NAS & SAN storage technologies, preferably with NetApp (On‑Prem + CVO).

- Strong scripting and automation skills (Shell, Python, Perl, Ansible).

- experience in Vmware (AVS, Vcenter and vRA).

- Experience supporting NIS and FreeIPA, enterprise monitoring, and infrastructure automation at scale.

- 7–10+ years of experience in UNIX infrastructure engineering, with strong hands‑on expertise designing and operating large‑scale cloud and server environments.

Cloud & Integration:

- Experience supporting or integrating with Azure or other cloud environments.

- Understanding of service‑oriented architectures, APIs, directory services (LDAP/AD), and integration concepts.

Professional & Behavioral Skills

- Ability to independently handle complex, high‑impact issues requiring deep analysis and innovative solutions.

- Consistent delivery of technical leadership and trusted subject‑matter guidance across teams.

- Strong communication, influencing, and collaboration skills; able to negotiate and persuade stakeholders.

- Customer‑focused mindset with commitment to reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Education & Certifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

- Experience operating within ITIL‑aligned environments (Incident/Problem/Change Management).
