Systems Engineer
About the role
Genera Group is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our IT team based in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga. This is a hands-on role where you'll help maintain and improve the technology that underpins our operations across New Zealand and Australia. Working as part of a small, collaborative IT team, you'll be involved in everything from infrastructure and cyber security through to Microsoft 365 administration, user support, and technology improvement projects. About you
We're looking for a smart, practical Systems Engineer who's friendly, low-ego, and quick to help out. You're clever across broad tech stacks, bring a calm head under pressure, and take full proactive ownership of your work while communicating comfortably with all people in the business.
Technical experience:
5+ years' experience in a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or Senior SysAdmin role
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration and core infrastructure (networks, servers, backups, security, DR)
Experience with Microsoft Power Platform & data tools (SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Fabric, etc.)
Integrations & data management: Experience configuring APIs and integrating disparate software tools
Key responsibilities
Managing and supporting core infrastructure including networks, servers, backups, and disaster recovery platforms
Administering and improving our Microsoft 365 environment, including security, collaboration, and user management
Monitoring system performance, availability, and security, while proactively identifying opportunities for improvement
Helping to provide high-quality support to staff across New Zealand and Australia and acting as an escalation point for more complex technical issues
Working with business teams to understand operational challenges and deliver practical technology solutions
Supporting infrastructure, security, and business improvement projects from planning through to delivery
Developing and maintaining clear technical documentation and support knowledge
Contributing to process improvement and automation initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve efficiency
