Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer supports the design, development, integration, sustainment, modernization, and retirement of complex systems throughout the full product lifecycle. This role applies systems engineering principles to requirements development, system architecture, trade studies, verification and validation, risk management, system-of-systems analysis and optimization, and technical documentation. The successful candidate will work across engineering disciplines and stakeholders to develop technically sound solutions that balance performance, cost, schedule, availability, and lifecycle considerations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, analyze, allocate, and manage system requirements, interfaces, and engineering specifications.
- Develop and evaluate system architectures and perform trade studies, system analysis, and optimization of complex systems-of-systems.
- Provide technical leadership for complex, multidisciplinary engineering efforts and coordinate across engineering teams, customers, and stakeholders.
- Support systems throughout the full lifecycle, including design, integration, verification, deployment, sustainment, modernization, and retirement.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, architecture descriptions, interface documentation, engineering analyses, and test/verification artifacts.
- Identify and manage technical risks and support cost, schedule, performance, availability, and supportability decisions.
- Support modernization of complex legacy systems and large-scale or geographically dispersed architectures with mission-critical availability and resiliency requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field required.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, IT Systems Engineering, or a related field, including experience supporting systems across the full product lifecycle
- Clearance Requirement: Active Secret Clearance
- Required Skills:
- Strong systems engineering background with experience in system design, integration, architecture, requirements, and lifecycle engineering.
- Experience analyzing and optimizing complex systems-of-systems.
- Experience creating and sustaining technical engineering documentation.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one engineering discipline, such as systems, software, hardware, network, cybersecurity, or test engineering.
- Strong communication, critical problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Preferred Skills:
- Experience with systems architecture and technical leadership of complex multidisciplinary systems.
- Experience sustaining or modernizing complex legacy systems.
- Experience designing or managing large-scale, geographically dispersed, high-availability or mission-critical architectures.
- Experience with MBSE, SysML, Cameo, requirements traceability, or related modeling practices.
- Experience with DoD systems, radar systems, missile warning, or national security space mission systems.
- Experience with software development, hardware engineering, test engineering, or network engineering.
- Experience with COTS/GOTS and custom-developed hardware/software systems.
- INCOSE certification, Security+, Network+, or similar relevant certifications.
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitLab, or Cameo.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Office environment with occasional on-site work in data centers or with hardware systems.
- May require after-hours or weekend work to address critical system issues or deployments.
- Some travel may be necessary to support system installations or meet with stakeholders.
- Ability to work at a desk and operate a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of IT equipment or hardware components (up to 25 lbs).
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, typically working 40 hours per week, offering a hybrid work arrangement with some work from home days. Overtime may be required depending on operational needs.
