About the Role:
As part of the core team at the Mexico City technology hub within Elsevier Health Education (EHE), the Systems Engineer III will lead complex cloud infrastructure and automation initiatives with strong technical ownership. Working closely with the Systems Engineering Lead, this role helps drive reliability, implementation quality, and operational maturity across shared platform services. You will play a key role in shaping technical standards, improving platform resilience, and supporting the growth of engineering capabilities across teams.
Responsibilities:
Lead delivery of complex cloud infrastructure deployment, modernization, and troubleshooting initiatives (preferably on AWS).
Design and implement advanced automation workflows to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Drive implementation decisions for resilient architecture patterns in collaboration with senior peers.
Own technical execution plans for medium-to-high complexity initiatives and critical changes.
Lead root-cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement preventive actions.
Mentor Systems Engineer I/II team members through technical guidance and review practices.
Partner with architecture, security, product, and FinOps stakeholders to align platform solutions with standards and business needs.
Improve operational practices, observability, and documentation quality for critical services.
Requirements:
Experience in cloud infrastructure, automation, or DevOps-focused roles.
Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
Proficiency in scripting/programming with Python or Go.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and deployment tooling such as Helm or ArgoCD.
Strong incident troubleshooting and service reliability mindset in cloud and containerized environments.
Demonstrated ability to independently own cross-team technical initiatives.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
