Systems Engineer Intern - Phoenix Site
Summary
Full-time, onsite Systems Engineering internship (May–August) at Acron Aviation's Phoenix site. Interns work alongside experienced engineers supporting aerospace systems requirements analysis, design, modeling, integration, testing, verification/validation, defect investigation, and technical documentation.
What You Will Do
- Responsibilities may vary based on your assigned location, team, product line, academic background, and current business needs. Examples include:
- Work under the guidance of experienced systems engineers and technical team members.
- Support the development and review of system designs, system requirements, specifications, and interface documentation.
- Assist with systems analysis, modeling, and development activities.
- Help translate customer, product, or program needs into clear and testable system requirements.
- Develop or update system-level test procedures, test scripts, and verification documentation.
- Execute tests, analyze results, and document findings under engineering guidance.
- Support system integration, verification, validation, regression testing, and issue reproduction activities.
- Participate in test dry runs and help confirm that test procedures, equipment, configurations, and supporting documentation are ready for formal execution.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize test results, anomalies, system logs, and supporting evidence.
- Assist with investigating defects, unexpected system behavior, and internal or external problem reports.
- Participate in peer reviews, technical discussions, design reviews, and project status updates.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of systems engineering documentation and design artifacts.
- Assist with configuration management and help maintain the accuracy and traceability of system requirements, designs, tests, and results.
- Collaborate with Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Test, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Engineering teams.
- Assist with laboratory, ground, or flight-test activities and help analyze the resulting data, when applicable.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, repeatability, automation, and documentation quality.
- Perform other systems engineering assignments aligned with your academic background and the needs of the assigned team.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Expected to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study before the internship begins.
- Foundational understanding of engineering development, requirements, testing, debugging, and problem-solving concepts.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and engineering processes.
- Ability to clearly communicate work status, questions, findings, and potential issues.
- Ability to organize technical information and document results accurately.
- Effective verbal communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Ability to take direction, ask questions when needed, and complete assigned work with an appropriate level of independence.
- Ability to work full-time and onsite at the assigned Acron Aviation location for the duration of the internship.
