Acron Aviation is seeking motivated and innovative Systems Engineering interns to join our engineering teams in Phoenix, Arizona.

This full-time, onsite internship is anticipated to run May through August and provides an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a professional engineering environment. You will work alongside experienced systems engineers and contribute to assignments representative of work performed by entry-level Systems Engineers.

Depending on the assigned location, team, and product line, you may gain experience in systems development, requirements analysis, system design, modeling, integration, verification, validation, testing, problem investigation, and technical documentation.

Intern assignments will be aligned with current business and project needs while providing exposure to real-world aerospace systems engineering practices. The source document specifically describes experience in aerospace systems development, verification, integration, testing, and documentation.

What You Will Do

  • Responsibilities may vary based on your assigned location, team, product line, academic background, and current business needs. Examples include:
  • Work under the guidance of experienced systems engineers and technical team members.
  • Support the development and review of system designs, system requirements, specifications, and interface documentation.
  • Assist with systems analysis, modeling, and development activities.
  • Help translate customer, product, or program needs into clear and testable system requirements.
  • Develop or update system-level test procedures, test scripts, and verification documentation.
  • Execute tests, analyze results, and document findings under engineering guidance.
  • Support system integration, verification, validation, regression testing, and issue reproduction activities.
  • Participate in test dry runs and help confirm that test procedures, equipment, configurations, and supporting documentation are ready for formal execution.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize test results, anomalies, system logs, and supporting evidence.
  • Assist with investigating defects, unexpected system behavior, and internal or external problem reports.
  • Participate in peer reviews, technical discussions, design reviews, and project status updates.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of systems engineering documentation and design artifacts.
  • Assist with configuration management and help maintain the accuracy and traceability of system requirements, designs, tests, and results.
  • Collaborate with Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Test, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Engineering teams.
  • Assist with laboratory, ground, or flight-test activities and help analyze the resulting data, when applicable.
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, repeatability, automation, and documentation quality.
  • Perform other systems engineering assignments aligned with your academic background and the needs of the assigned team.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Expected to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study before the internship begins.
  • Foundational understanding of engineering development, requirements, testing, debugging, and problem-solving concepts.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and engineering processes.
  • Ability to clearly communicate work status, questions, findings, and potential issues.
  • Ability to organize technical information and document results accurately.
  • Effective verbal communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Ability to take direction, ask questions when needed, and complete assigned work with an appropriate level of independence.
  • Ability to work full-time and onsite at the assigned Acron Aviation location for the duration of the internship.
  • This position may require access to information, technology, software, or hardware that is subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations. To comply with these requirements, applicants must qualify as a US Person.

  • Coursework, project experience, prior internship experience, or knowledge in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
  • Systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes
  • System requirements development and analysis

  • Model-based systems engineering or system modeling
  • System integration, verification, and validation
  • System-level test development and execution
  • Test procedures, test scripts, and test reporting
  • Regression testing and issue reproduction
  • Data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Configuration management and change control
  • Defect investigation and root cause analysis
  • Test automation or scripting
  • Laboratory, ground, or flight testing
  • Aerospace, aviation, or another regulated industry
  • Avionics or safety-related systems
