Summary
Junior Unix/Linux systems engineer (0-2 yrs) supporting critical systems at Changi Airport: routine maintenance, OS patching and upgrades, incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, vendor coordination, and new project implementation, with 24x7 standby support. A 1-year renewable contract via a Singapore recruitment agency paying S$4,000-5,000/month.
Salary: $4,000 – $5,000 per month

About the role
We are looking for a System Engineer to support the implementation, maintenance and operational stability of critical systems at Changi Airport. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on Unix/Linux system support experience who enjoy troubleshooting technical issues, supporting system upgrades and working on project implementations. You will work closely with internal teams, stakeholders and external vendors to ensure systems remain stable, secure and operational.
Key responsibilities
Perform routine system maintenance and ensure scheduled activities are completed on time.
Support Unix/Linux operating systems and applications, including system monitoring and troubleshooting.
Perform OS and application upgrades, patching and maintenance.
Attend to system/application service requests and change requests.
Troubleshoot and resolve system, application and technical incidents.
Work with external vendors/support teams to resolve complex technical issues when required.
Investigate incidents and identify root causes, preventive actions and corrective measures.
Prepare timely and professional incident, problem and technical reports for stakeholders.
Assist in preparing system documentation and supporting ISO audit activities.
Participate in new project implementation, including requirement gathering, system setup and installation, configuration, testing, commissioning and post-implementation support.
About you
Diploma or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline.
2–3 years of relevant experience in system/application support is ideal.
Hands-on experience supporting Unix/Linux environments.
Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Good command of written and spoken English.
24×7 standby support capability.
