MANTECH Systems Engineer
MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Systems Engineer to join our team in Lexington Park, MD. This is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.
The successful candidate will support the Precision Strike Weapons Program Office (PMA-201). In this role, you will support the A/U/RGM-84 Harpoon project, an all-weather, over-the-horizon anti-ship missile system deployed by the U.S. Navy and twenty-nine foreign military partners.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform engineering analysis to identify, design, and test practical solutions for complex system challenges
Review and interpret technical drawings and documentation to process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Requests for Variance (RFVs), and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
Track, validate, and manage technical requirements throughout the system lifecycle
Execute Risk Management functions using the Risk and Opportunity Information (ROI) tool
Perform Configuration Management tasks to guide the engineering development of modern defense systems
Contribute to technical documentation and maintain strict compliance with DoD acquisition standards
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, logisticians, and multi-disciplinary teams
Travel is up to 25% and can be CONUS or OCONUS, with travel requirements on average about once every 6 weeks
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a technical or scientific field with 3+ years of recent and relevant experience in defense, aerospace, or government technical environments
Direct systems engineering experience driving measurable outcomes (e.g., successful design reviews, system deployments, or integration milestones) for complex, multi-tiered systems
Experience with DoD acquisition processes
Proficiency using the Microsoft Office 365 suite, ex., Word, Excel, Teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with Harpoon missile systems or precision-guided weapons programs
Background supporting Foreign Military Sales (FMS) or international defense programs
DAWIA Engineering and Technical Management (ETM) certification
Clearance Requirements:
Must have an active DoD Secret clearance
Physical Requirements:
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
