Systems Engineer SME (TS/SCI with Poly Required)
Summary
Systems engineer subject-matter expert at GCI supporting a standalone HPC system for a government customer: writing System Security Plans and CONOPS, maintaining A&A/RMF accreditation and ATO status, coordinating security assessments, and doing hands-on system setup and optimization. Requires US citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a SME Systems Engineer, a typical day will include the following duties:
Work Requirements:
- The Candidate shall work closely with other teams, including network engineers, data scientists, and customer.
- The Candidate shall work closely with the Customer for the execution of tasks, implementation, documentation, and configuration of a standalone HPC system.
- The Candidate shall work closely with the Customer to maintain A&A accreditation compliance.
- The Candidate shall work closely with the Customer to create the visualization specifications for the system monitoring and system metrics.
- The Candidate shall create, document, and update necessary artifacts such as the Configuration Management Plan, Data Management Plan, and CONOPS.
- The Candidate shall advise and assist with development of System Security Plans.
- The Candidate shall monitor, track, and update status of systems in Customer's RMF tool.
- The Candidate shall coordinate technical security assessments of computing environments and systems to identify points of vulnerability, non-compliance with established Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- The Candidate shall partner with relevant Customer technical and security POCs to maintain the HPC system with current ATO (Authority to Operate) status.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated experience creating and reviewing documentation related to System Security Plans, or Body of Evidence (BOE) documentation.
- Demonstrated experience with A&A processes.
- Demonstrated experience with development of System Security Plans.
- Demonstrated experience working with system architectures, including hands-on setup, configuration, and optimization of systems.
Desired Skills:
- Demonstrated experience developing using REST Web services.
- Demonstrated experience or familiarity with Red Hat, CentOS, or Rocky.
- Demonstrated experience with web application development.
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, implementing, or integrating IA and security systems and system components (such as those for networking, virtualization, cloud, and enclave environments to include those with with differing data protection requirements).
- Demonstrated experience using Java and Oracle PL/SQL languages.
- Demonstrated experience developing interactive dashboards and reports using data visualization tools.
- Demonstrated experience with Customer A&A processes.
- Demonstrated experience working with the Customer system architecture, including hands-on setup, configuration, and optimization of the system.
- Cloud certification(s)
A candidate must be a US Citizen and requires an active/current TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
