Job Summary:

The Systems Integration Engineer establishes reliable, secure and observable connectivity between enterprise source systems, operational technologies, external platforms and the enterprise Data Lakehouse. The role owns the ingestion boundary — everything that gets data safely and repeatedly from where it is created to where it can be used.

3. Key Duties and Responsibilities

Integration design and build

  • Design and maintain integrations across SAP and ERP, POS, CRM, mobile and web platforms, cloud services, file sources, APIs, IoT, PLC/SCADA, CCTV and NVR estates, and other operational technologies.
  • Define source-to-target contracts, ingestion patterns, batching and streaming approaches, and schema-change handling.
  • Build ingestion into the Lakehouse in line with enterprise engineering standards.

Reliability and operations

  • Implement monitoring, alerting, retry, backfill, reconciliation and recovery for every production interface.
  • Maintain data-freshness service levels and publish interface health.
  • Own incident response and root-cause analysis for integration failures, and maintain operational runbooks.

Security and control

  • Implement secure connectivity, credential management, encryption and least-privilege access in line with Cybersecurity policy.
  • Implement reconciliation controls that prove completeness and accuracy against the source system.

Coordination

  • Work with source-system owners, IT Infrastructure, Cybersecurity and vendors to agree access, change windows and support arrangements.
  • Support enterprise source-system discovery and document what is and is not yet integrated.

4. Key Deliverables

  • Production integrations with documented source-to-target specifications.
  • Interface monitoring, alerting and reconciliation controls.
  • Data-freshness service levels and published interface health reporting.
  • Incident runbooks and post-incident reviews.
  • Source-system inventory contributions and integration backlog.

5. Accountability and Success Measures

  • Integration reliability and recoverability.
  • Completeness and accuracy of ingested data against source.
  • Secure and compliant connectivity.
  • Timeliness against agreed data-freshness service levels.
  • Quality of handover to the data engineering layer.

6. Working Relationships

  • Internal: Data Engineers; Data Engineering Capability Head; Site BIDA Head; IT Infrastructure; Cybersecurity; source-system owners across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Commercial and Store Operations.
  • External: software vendors, systems integrators and platform support.

7. Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer or Electronics Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

Three or more years in systems integration, ETL or data ingestion engineering. Experience with at least two of: SAP/ERP extraction, POS or retail systems, REST APIs, cloud storage and messaging, or industrial IoT and PLC/SCADA data capture.

Certifications

Preferred: Databricks Data Engineer Associate, cloud platform associate certification (Azure/AWS/GCP). Optional: SAP integration or industrial protocol training.

8. Technical Skills

  • Python and SQL.
  • Databricks and Spark; Delta Lake ingestion patterns.
  • API integration, authentication patterns and file-based ingestion.
  • Message and streaming technologies; change data capture.
  • IoT and OT data acquisition, including PLC/SCADA historians (for manufacturing-assigned positions).
  • Edge and video-source acquisition — CCTV and NVR estates, sensing devices, and persisting derived events rather than raw streams.
  • Orchestration, CI/CD, version control and infrastructure-as-code basics.
  • Monitoring, logging and reconciliation design.

9. Behavioural Competencies

  • Operational discipline — treats production reliability as the primary output.
  • Methodical troubleshooting under time pressure.
  • Security-first mindset.
  • Clear documentation habits.
  • Collaborative working across IT, plant and vendor boundaries.

10. Level Guidance

Systems Integration Engineer

Builds and supports defined interfaces under technical direction. Three or more years of relevant experience.

Senior Systems Integration Engineer

Owns integration patterns and standards, leads complex or high-risk integrations, and mentors engineers. Six or more years of relevant experience.
