Systems Security Engineer II - 557118

Summary

Protects Air Force research systems by analyzing threats, implementing security controls, and advising on DoD cyber posture using NIST/ISO frameworks and tools like ACAS.

As a Security Risk Threat Specialist, you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating threats to AFRL systems and networks. You will work with a team of security professionals to develop and implement strategies to protect against cyberattacks and other security threats. You will also be responsible for staying up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies and for conducting ongoing assessments of the DoD's security posture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing assessments of the systems and networks to identify potential security threats
  • Analyze threat intelligence data to identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to protect against cyberattacks, malware, and other security threats
  • Collaborate with other security professionals to design and implement security controls, processes, and procedures
  • Participate in security incident response activities and investigations
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies and advise management on their potential impact on the DoD's security posture
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate DoD personnel on security best practices
  • Update Risk Management Framework paperwork in coordination with change manager, ISSM, and Operation teams

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems security threat analysis, preferably in a DoD environment
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and VPNs
  • Familiarity with industry-standard security frameworks, such as NIST and ISO
  • Experience with threat intelligence tools and techniques, including malware analysis and reverse engineering
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Preferred: DISA ACAS Best Practices Exam
  • ACAS Training Certificate
  • Active Secret clearance or above
  • Active Security+ (or 8 equivalent)
