Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Senior

Position Overview

The Government Services Integration Cluster is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist to support enterprise-level IT systems and large-scale application testing initiatives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive testing strategies, test plans, test cases, and automated test scripts. The role involves performing functional, integration, regression, system, performance, and user acceptance testing to ensure application quality, reliability, accessibility, and compliance.

The candidate must have extensive experience with manual and automated testing, enterprise applications, database validation, API testing, and accessibility testing, particularly within complex IT environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement testing strategies, test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data.
  

• Plan, organize, and execute testing activities for large-scale enterprise applications.
  

• Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  

• Conduct manual and automated testing across GUI and non-GUI environments.
  

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, Postman, or other automation frameworks.
  

• Perform API testing and validate application integrations.
  

• Conduct performance, stress, and load testing using tools such as JMeter and LoadRunner.
  

• Identify, document, track, and manage defects using JIRA, Azure DevOps, ALM, or similar tools.
  

• Perform backend testing and database validation using SQL and Oracle.
  

• Validate data integrity, consistency, accuracy, migration, and transformation across systems.
  

• Ensure applications comply with AODA accessibility requirements and applicable standards.
  

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  

• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, and testing leads.
  

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  

• Maintain test documentation, test execution reports, coverage reports, and quality metrics.
  

• Support UAT activities and provide input for user manuals and release documentation.
  

• Ensure testing activities follow established QA standards, security practices, and SDLC methodologies.
  

Required Skills and Experience

Core QA Skills

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in software testing within enterprise-level IT environments and large-scale systems.
  

• Strong hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing.
  

• Extensive experience developing test strategies, test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test reports.
  

• Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.
  

• Experience with functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing.
  

• Experience with performance, load, and stress testing.
  

• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing life cycle (STLC).
  

• Experience with AODA accessibility testing and compliance.
  

• Knowledge of QA standards, quality assurance practices, and security testing.
  

Technical Skills

• Test Automation: Selenium, Postman, UFT, TestComplete, or similar.
  

• API Testing: Postman and API validation techniques.
  

• Performance Testing: JMeter, LoadRunner, or equivalent.
  

• Defect Management: JIRA, Azure DevOps, ALM, Bugzilla, TestRail, or Zephyr.
  

• Databases: Strong knowledge of SQL and Oracle.
  

• Cloud Technologies: Azure and AWS.
  

• CI/CD & Version Control: Jenkins, Git, GitLab, and CI/CD integration tools.
  

• Programming/Scripting: Python, JavaScript, Bash, or other programming languages.
  

• Backend Testing: Database queries, data validation, and test data management.

• Previous Ontario Public Service (OPS) or public sector experience.
  

• Knowledge of OPS Quality Assurance standards and practices.
  

• Experience with Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) application testing.
  

• Experience with AODA and accessibility compliance standards.
  

• Experience with information management principles and practices.
  

• Experience testing object-oriented applications.
  

• Knowledge of at least one programming language.
  

• Experience developing and maintaining automated test suites.
  

Requirements

• 10+ years of enterprise-level software testing experience.
  

• Hands-on experience in manual and automated testing.

• Experience with Selenium or Postman for automated/API testing.
  

• Strong understanding of SQL and Oracle databases.
  

• Knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS.
  

Additional Assignment Information

• Work location: 222 Jarvis Street, Toronto.
  

• Onsite attendance: Five days per week.
  

• Contract duration: Until March 31, 2027.
  

• One position available.
  

• No security clearance required.
