Description

About the role

We are looking for a Tableau Developer to design, build, and maintain dashboards that help teams understand business performance and make informed decisions. You will work with business stakeholders, analysts, and data engineers to define metrics, validate data, and deliver reporting that is accurate, intuitive, and reliable.

Key responsibilities

  • Gather reporting requirements, agree on KPI definitions with stakeholders, and translate them into dashboards and self-service reporting solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, and publish interactive dashboards, workbooks, and reusable data sources in Tableau.
  • Use SQL to prepare and validate data, reconcile dashboard results against source systems, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Optimize dashboard load times and responsiveness by reviewing workbook design, calculations, queries, and extract usage.
  • Maintain published content in Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud, troubleshoot refresh failures, and coordinate access and permissions with platform administrators.
  • Document metric definitions, data sources, and workbook logic so others can use and maintain the reporting.
  • Gather feedback from dashboard users and refine reports as business needs evolve.

Requirements

Required qualifications

  • Professional experience developing, publishing, and maintaining Tableau dashboards used by business teams.
  • Proficiency in Tableau Desktop, including calculated fields, level-of-detail (LOD) expressions, table calculations, parameters, filters, and dashboard actions.
  • Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, common table expressions, and window functions.
  • Working knowledge of relational data modeling, including how data grain and join cardinality affect reporting accuracy.
  • Experience with Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud, including publishing workflows, extract refreshes, and content permissions.
  • Ability to apply data visualization principles to make complex information easy to interpret and act on.
  • Ability to clarify ambiguous requirements, explain technical decisions to non-technical audiences, and collaborate across teams.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift.
  • Experience implementing row-level security or working with governed, shared data sources.
  • Familiarity with Tableau Prep, dbt, or other data transformation tools.
  • Experience with the Tableau REST API or Python for automating reporting workflows.
