TABLEAU TO POWER BI SENIOR POWER BI MIGRATION SPECIALIST

Our company is seeking a skilled Power BI Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for migrating and optimizing existing Tableau dashboards into Power BI, ensuring seamless transitions and enhanced performance, and well as creating new Power BI dashboards based on customer requirements.

REQUIREMENTS :

• 3 to 4 years min of experience as,

· Proven experience in data modeling and dashboard creation in both Tableau and Power BI.

· Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M Language), and VertiPaq optimization.

· Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for data quality and performance.

· Experience with semantic model management and workspace governance in Power BI Service.

· Ability to read and translate complex Tableau logic into Power BI equivalents.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Certification in Power BI or Tableau.

· Experience with source systems like Databricks and SQL.

· Familiarity with Performance Analyzer and DAX Studio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Modeling: Design and implement efficient star schema models in Power BI, avoiding snowflake schemas and ensuring VertiPaq can compress data effectively.

• Relationships: Establish and manage One-to-Many and Many-to-Many relationships, configure correct cross-filter directions, and troubleshoot relationship errors such as duplicates and case sensitivity issues.

• DAX Proficiency: Utilize core DAX functions including CALCULATE, RELATED, RELATEDTABLE, FILTER, and time intelligence functions. Understand and apply row context vs filter context to create calculated columns and measures.

• Power Query: Perform ETL processes using M Language, including data cleaning, shaping, merging/appending, and creating custom columns. Manage parameters and understand query folding.

• Measures vs Calculated Columns: Determine the appropriate use of measures and calculated columns to optimize performance and ensure data correctness.

• Performance Optimization: Analyze and enhance dashboard performance using VertiPaq insights, Performance Analyzer, and DAX Studio. Understand the impact of cardinality and the benefits of normalized tables.

• Data Source Connectivity: Manage connection modes (Import, DirectQuery, Composite) and optimize performance based on source systems like Databricks and SQL.

• Data Quality: Debug and resolve data quality issues including case sensitivity, whitespace, and duplicates. Perform full-dataset and sample profiling to root-cause problems.

• Report Design: Create intuitive and performant dashboards in Power BI. Understand the interaction between visuals and filter context, and design reports that avoid common pitfalls such as excessive visuals per page and unnecessary bidirectional filters.

• Semantic Model Management: Publish and consume shared semantic models across multiple reports. Manage refresh schedules and ensure proper workspace/dataset governance in the Power BI Service.

Translation of Logic: Read and interpret Tableau's LOD expressions, calculated fields, and joins. Translate these into equivalent DAX and Power Query logic in Power BI.
