Talent Acquisition Director
One of the world's fastest-moving consumer companies is looking for its China recruitment Director!
About ZURU
ZURU is on a mission to disrupt across industries, challenge the status quo, and catalyse change through radical innovation and automation. That plays out across three pillars: ZURU Toys is re-imagining what it means to play, ZURU Tech is leading the next building revolution, and ZURU Edge is pioneering new-generation FMCG brands.
Founded in 2003 by brothers Nick and Mat Mowbray — EY Entrepreneur of the Year and World Entrepreneur Hall of Fame — ZURU has grown to more than 5,000 direct and indirect team members across 30+ international locations.
We're one of the largest toy companies in the world, with brands including Bunch O Balloons, Mini Brands, X-SHOT, Rainbocorns and Fugglers. Our FMCG portfolio includes MONDAY Haircare, Rascals, Bonkers, Gumi Yum, Millie Moon, Daise Beauty and more!
The role
This is the senior recruitment leadership seat for China. You'll own the framework — how ZURU maps, attracts, assesses and hires mid-to-senior talent across China — and you'll lead the nationwide recruitment team that delivers against it.
It's a build role as much as a delivery role. You'll set the standard, work with the team on getting 2% better every day, and take on the hardest searches yourself.
What you'll own
Strategy and planning. Build a group-wide, cross-functional recruitment and headhunting framework aligned to ZURU's growth plan. Own demand assessment, headcount planning, and the annual recruitment plan.
Business partnering. Work directly with leaders across Toys, Edge and Tech — translating business plans into hiring plans, challenging the brief where it needs challenging, and becoming the person they come to before a role is even open.
Team leadership and capability. Manage the nationwide recruitment team end to end — goal setting, process, capability development and performance. A core part of this is upskilling the team in data, AI and the systems we recruit with, so they work faster and decide better.
Talent mapping. Lead mapping for high-end and critical roles in China. Deliver tailored search solutions and lift the team's speed, quality and accuracy.
Market intelligence. Research competitor org structures, business models, compensation frameworks, regional talent supply and market trends — the data that shapes ZURU's talent strategy.
Process and experience. Standardise and sharpen the full lifecycle, from requirement confirmation through sourcing, screening, interview, offer and onboarding — raising candidate experience and employer brand along the way.
Pipelines. Build durable selection mechanisms and talent pipelines for key positions so business expansion is never waiting on people.
Channels. Own the development, evaluation and performance analysis of recruitment channels at home and abroad, building a cost-effective and sustainable channel matrix.
Reporting. Own recruitment reporting for the region - funnel health, time-to-hire, channel performance, cost and bring it to the HRD and business leaders as insight, not just numbers.
Global connection. Operate as one team with TA International, moving pipelines, market insight and standards in both directions
Hard searches. Personally deliver high-end, scarce and difficult-to-fill roles, and run deep headhunting projects on the searches that have stalled.
What you'll bring
12+ years in senior talent acquisition, including team management in a complex environment.
At least 5 years leading teams, with a track record of building a high-performing culture.
Bachelor's degree or above, with fluent English - you'll work with leaders and teams across our international offices.
Headhunting and business partnering background is ideal.
Proven strength in China (and overseas, where needed) talent mapping, talent pool building and proactive headhunting.
Depth across full-cycle recruitment systems, talent assessment, structured interviewing and candidate experience with a sharp, forward-looking read on the China talent market.
The range to run projects across multiple teams and business lines at once, and the credibility to influence senior stakeholders while doing it.
Experience in up-skilling teams and finding new ways to find talents including AI, new platforms and resources
Resilience, self-direction and a bias for results.
Why join ZURU in China
ZURU has grown from a garage to 5,000+ people across 30+ locations in just over two decades, and China is where much of that growth gets built — close to product, manufacturing and the automation work that makes it possible.
That makes recruitment here consequential. The people you hire shape what ships.
You'd be building the function rather than maintaining it: a China recruitment engine with real standards, real data behind it, and a team that gets 2% better every day. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with TA teams across our international offices, so the work is visible at group level and you're never solving it alone. The searches are hard, the business moves quickly, and there's very little between you and the decisions that matter.
If big ambition, process, problem-solving, results and momentum are what you're after, we'd like to talk!
We are actively reviewing applications for this role. If your background and experience align with what we are looking for, our Talent team will reach out directly.
