About Solen Software Group

Solen Software Group is a permanent-capital software acquirer. We partner with founders to acquire and grow mission-critical, niche B2B enterprise software businesses for the long term — we think in decades, not quick exits. Our portfolio spans sectors such as fleet management, energy, banking and finance, and healthcare, and we invest in the leadership, technology, and people behind each business rather than “strip and flip.”

Solen operates from five hubs — Salt Lake City (HQ), Toronto, New York, São Paulo and Lisbon — and is now scaling internationally: we're building out our Finance, Operations and M&A teams and opening a new office in London ahead of our first European acquisitions this year. Solen is Great Place to Work Certified and has been named to the Inc. 5000.

The Role

As Solen scales globally, our Talent team is looking for a Talent Acquisition Intern to join us in Lisbon. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role for someone who wants real exposure to how a fast-growing, permanent-capital software group builds teams across borders — from sourcing candidates, to mapping new regions ahead of expansion, to helping international hires settle in.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing & pipeline building: proactively source and screen candidates for open roles across Finance, Operations, M&A and other corporate functions, using LinkedIn Recruiter, our ATS, and other channels.
  • Regional & market mapping: research and map talent pools, salary benchmarks and competitor landscapes in regions of strategic interest to the Group (e.g. UK, Southern Europe, Latin America), supporting new-market and new-office decisions.
  • International hire support: coordinate elements of the international hiring journey — offer support, relocation logistics, and onboarding touchpoints — for candidates joining Solen's global offices.
  • Employer branding support: contribute to job postings, careers page content, and outreach materials that reflect Solen's culture and growth story.
  • Process & tools: maintain accurate candidate records in the ATS, track pipeline metrics, and flag opportunities to improve the sourcing process.
  • Cross-team collaboration: partner closely with hiring managers and the wider People team across Lisbon, Salt Lake City, Toronto, New York and São Paulo

What We're Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree, including MBA programs; international students studying in Europe are welcome and encouraged to apply.
  • Willing and able to relocate to Lisbon (or already based there) for the duration of the internship.
  • Fluent in English (mandatory); working proficiency in French, German or Dutch is a strong plus.
  • Strong research and analytical skills — comfortable turning market data into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Naturally curious, organized, and comfortable managing multiple sourcing pipelines at once.
  • Discreet and professional; you'll be exposed to sensitive hiring and org-design information.

Logistics

  • Location: Lisbon, Portugal — Alvalade area (hybrid working model).
  • Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of a 4-month extension.
  • Start date: flexible, to be agreed with the successful candidate.

Mentorship & Support

  • A structured onboarding in the first two weeks, including introductions across the Talent, Finance, Operations and M&A teams.
  • A named mentor on the Talent team for day-to-day guidance, questions, and regular 1:1s.
  • Check-in conversations at 30, 90 and 180 days to review progress against the Growth Milestones below and set goals for the next phase — a coaching conversation.

What You'll Gain

  • Direct exposure to how a global, permanent-capital software group sources talent and scales across borders.
  • Mentorship from an experienced Talent team inside a Great Place to Work-certified company.
  • A front-row seat to Solen's international expansion, including the build-out of the new offices.
  • The opportunity to turn this internship into a longer-term role within the Group.

Solen-isms (How We Operate)

  • Ownership Mindset: We own the mission. We don't wait to be told. We lead, fix, and build as if it were ours. When problems arise, we run toward them, not away.
  • Benchmark to Best: We seek out excellence. We measure ourselves against the best and adapt quickly, always looking for the edge that moves us forward.
  • Openly Self-Critical: Leaders go first: they surface their misses early, ask for direct feedback, and turn “game film” into better decisions and better systems.
  • Disagree & Commit: Leaders disagree openly and constructively, regardless of title or tenure, because truth is how we avoid bureaucracy and benchmark to best.
  • Figureitoutiveness: Embracing challenges, fostering growth, and taking initiative, leaders thrive on hard work and high failure tolerance.
  • Mutual Elevation: Committed to growth, elevating teams, developing future leaders, and removing barriers to mastery and joy.
  • Learn-it-alls: Learn-it-alls, not know-it-alls, embracing failure as part of growth and progress.
  • Pioneering: Pioneering driven by opportunity, using first principles thinking and unbound by tradition or rules.
  • Will to Win: Leaders relentlessly pursue potential, reject mediocrity, and get what they tolerate.
  • Dialectical: We learn through conversation. We ask, listen, question, and evolve — valuing disagreement as a tool for alignment and deeper understanding.
  • Frugality: Achieving more with less, focusing on quality, long-term value, and company-wide responsibility.
  • Candor: We communicate with integrity, transparency, and respect in all conversations.
  • Kaizen: Kaizen is continuous improvement as a way of life. Leaders make hundreds of small upgrades that compound, turning lessons into standards and standards into durable systems.
