Job Summary
Serves as a strategic clinical talent acquisition partner and subject matter expert, leading high-impact recruitment, workforce planning, and pipeline strategies across complex nursing service lines. Leveraging a Registered Nurse (RN) background, bridges executive nursing leadership (CNOs, VPs, Directors) with talent acquisition to forecast clinical staffing demand, optimize skill mix, and significantly reduce reliance on agency labor. Drives market-competitive sourcing, ensures rigorous regulatory compliance (State Board of Nursing, Joint Commission, Primary Source Verification), and leverages talent analytics to elevate the organization’s employer brand and secure top-tier clinical talent in a competitive healthcare landscape.
Essential Functions
· Serves as a trusted TA advisor to CNOs, Nursing Directors, and Service Line Leaders to align recruitment strategies with clinical operational goals, bed expansion, and unit-level nurse-to-patient staffing ratios.
· Analyzes clinical turnover, attrition, and seasonal census trends to proactive forecast hiring needs and execute targeted campaigns aimed at minimizing premium agency utilization.
· Designs and executes targeted clinical recruitment initiatives, including university/residency partnerships, specialized nursing conference outreach, and direct sourcing of passive, hard-to-fill specialty personnel (e.g., ICU, Cath Lab, OR).
· Leverages BSN credentialing to perform high-level clinical screenings, evaluating candidate skill mix, certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS), and unit-fit prior to manager submission.
· Oversees end-to-end white-glove candidate journeys for high-demand nursing talent, from initial contact through offer negotiation, clinical onboarding, and license verification.
· Facilitates structured, competency-based behavioral interviewing frameworks tailored to clinical domains, ensuring high quality-of-hire and cultural fit.
· Audits and ensures strict adherence to State Board of Nursing licensing requirements, primary source verifications (PSV), Compact RN license rules, Joint Commission standards, and EEO/AA guidelines.
· Leverages ATS/CRM analytics, time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, and 90-day retention metrics to optimize sourcing channels and present action-oriented talent insights to leadership.
· Mentors’ junior talent acquisition team members, optimizes recruitment workflows, and continuously Refines candidate selection tools.
· Manages full-cycle recruitment for nursing roles, including specialized sourcing, clinical screening, interviewing, and offer negotiation.
- Partners closely with Nurse Managers, Directors, and Chief Nursing Executives to define unit-specific clinical competencies, staffing ratios, and candidate selection criteria.
- Utilizes applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruitment metrics to track pipeline health, reduce time-to-fill, and optimize clinical hiring outcomes.
- Ensures strict adherence to state board of nursing regulations, primary source verification standards, employment laws, and internal hiring policies.
- Coordinates transparent, timely communications and interview schedules to deliver a supportive, candidate-centered recruiting experience.
- Builds active talent pools for specialized nursing units through clinical networking, university partnerships, residency program outreach, and hiring events.
- Collaborates with HR, nursing leadership, and agency coordinators to align recruitment strategies with unit-level staffing plans and shift requirements.
- Prepares recruiting reports, turnover trends, and time-to-fill metrics to guide leadership decisions and continuous process improvement.
- Performs other clinical recruitment and HR duties as assigned.
