Tax Analyst 1

Summary

The Tax Analyst 1 will manage tax compliance processes, including FATCA and CRS status determinations and the maintenance of tax information reporting documentation. The role involves tracking inquiries, updating compliance procedures, and supporting governance workstreams within the finance department.

The Tax Analyst 1 role requires a good knowledge of the range of processes, procedures and systems to be used in carrying out assigned tasks, an understanding of the underlying concepts and principles upon which the tasks are required. Good understanding of how the team interacts with others in accomplishing the objectives of the area. Makes evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information. They are expected to resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents. Must be able to exchange information in a concise and logical way as well as be sensitive to audience diversity. Limited but direct impact on the business through the quality of the tasks/services provided. Impact of the job holder is restricted to own job.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the determination of Chapter 3, Chapter 4/FATCA, CRS statuses for Citi legal entities, and creation of appropriate US tax forms (W-8s, W9s) and FATCA/CRS self-certificates for Citi entities.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating inventories of process owners and responsible persons for the core tax processes which make up Tax Information Reporting (TIR) group's taxonomy across Citi.
  • Ensuring assisting with the creation of annual compliance training modules as well as researching advisory inquiries and drafting Alerts.
  • Responsible for maintenance of trackers to ensure inquiries resolved by TIR ACT are adequately tracked, updates from external advisors are tracked at country level for FATCA/CRS, Alerts issued by TIR ACT including where Alerts have workarounds for tax form validation are tracked.
  • Responsible for ensuring metrics for all TIR ACT processes are collected and uploaded timely, monthly.
  • Assisting leads in execution of BAU governance workstreams and maintaining/updating procedures, manuals and templates.
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned by workstream leads and manager.

Qualifications:

  • 1.5 + years of experience ideally in a tax environment with exposure to FATCA, CRS, Chapter 3, Chapter 61.
