You will manage and review the work of tax analysts, take ownership of the regional tax compliance calendar, and act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, external advisors, and tax authorities. This role combines people leadership with technical tax oversight, and offers a dynamic work environment within a multinational corporation operating in over 100 countries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and approve Corporate Income Tax (CIT) returns, withholding tax compliance, VAT compliance filings, and advance tax calculations and payments prepared by the team across LATAM jurisdictions.
  • Own and manage tax provision processes for statutory and group reporting purposes (ASC 740), reviewing current and deferred tax calculations prepared by analysts.
  • Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of tax accounts, ensuring complete and accurate supporting documentation and proper internal controls.
  • Review and finalize Return-to-Provision templates and reconciliations in line with group requirements.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders (R2R, FP&A, Treasury, Statutory Audit) and external consultants, ensuring accurate and timely tax reporting across the region.
  • Lead responses to tax audits, assessments, and inquiries from tax authorities across jurisdictions, coordinating with external advisors as needed.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop tax analysts, including reviewing their work product and supporting their professional growth.
  • Drive the design, implementation, and testing of tax process improvements and automation initiatives across the region.
  • Identify and help manage tax risk across LATAM jurisdictions, escalating key issues to senior finance leadership as appropriate.
  • Provide support to the broader tax function as needed, including ad hoc assignments, special projects, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • 6-9+ years of relevant experience in direct and/or indirect tax within a global or multinational environment (industry, Big 4, or professional services), including prior experience reviewing others' work.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field; CPA, Contador Público, or equivalent tax/accounting certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of direct and indirect taxation laws and accounting standards across multiple LATAM jurisdictions.
  • Solid experience with tax provisioning (ASC 740) and reconciliation of tax accounts under a multinational reporting framework.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring analysts, or leading workstreams, strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and tax technology/automation tools is a plus.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and coordinate across finance, business, and external advisors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment on tax risk and the ability to manage competing priorities across jurisdictions and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency is a plus
