Flowthrough Tax Senior – Winery Focus

Overview
BPM—where caring and community are at the core of who we are—is seeking a talented Tax Senior with winery experience to join our growing Flowthrough (PCS) Tax practice. This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys working with closely held businesses and has a strong understanding of the unique operational, accounting, and tax considerations of vineyards, wineries, and wine distributors.

As a key member of the team, you will support complex tax engagements, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and build meaningful client relationships while contributing to high-quality service delivery across the wine and agribusiness sector.

Note: Candidates within 45 minutes of a BPM office will be expected to follow a hybrid schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for flowthrough entities (partnerships, S corporations) within the winery, vineyard, and agribusiness sectors
  • Assist with tax planning and consulting engagements, including multi-state compliance and entity structuring considerations
  • Support inventory costing and accounting analyses, including UNICAP (§263A), production accounting, and valuation matters
  • Prepare workpapers and documentation related to complex tax positions
  • Conduct tax research and apply findings to client-specific recommendations
  • Assist in addressing tax implications related to wine production cycles, agricultural operations, and distribution models
  • Support compliance and advisory work related to excise tax and beverage alcohol regulations (e.g., TTB considerations)
  • Work with clients with multi-entity structures, including family-owned operations and private equity–backed winery businesses
  • Communicate directly with clients, including controllers, CFOs, and owners, to gather information and provide updates
  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional value to clients through tax planning and process improvements

Qualifications:

  • CPA preferred or in progress
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of public accounting experience, with a focus on flowthrough taxation (partnerships and S corporations)
  • Experience working with winery, vineyard, agribusiness, or consumer products clients
