Job Accountabilities

Technical Delivery & Operations

  • Design, build, and maintain automation for SDLC deployment pipelines, using tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, and Bash/Shell.
  • Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot software releases; resolve pipeline and environment issues as they arise, escalating more complex or novel problems as needed.
  • Create clean, reusable code and automation patterns for tooling and deployment pipelines — favoring the simplest effective approach so patterns can be reused as new products and services come online.
  • Support and maintain CI environments for development teams, ensuring pipelines remain reliable, available, and easy for teams to build against.
  • Handle a variety of assignments and requests from cross-functional partners — including development teams, infrastructure teams, datacenter, Helpdesk, and Software Support.
  • Part of a rotational team providing on-call operational support for internal and external software products.

Strategic Contribution & Process Improvement

  • Identify process improvements that contribute to improved service or reduced cost of operations.
  • Anticipate potential problems that could impact the team or end users and develop sound strategies to prevent or reduce negative impacts.
  • Collect data and information on critical success factors to evaluate progress against plans.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and remain adaptable, with the ability to ramp up quickly on new tools valued as much as current tool expertise.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Collaborate with teammates, and internal customers when needed, to groom backlogs and plan upcoming development sprints.
  • Share technical expertise with colleagues and contribute to a strong sense of team camaraderie.
  • Motivate team members through enthusiasm and optimism; contribute to team goals that support the broader TECOPS mission.
  • Raise questions, blockers, or concerns early so issues can be resolved in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience on a Linux-based DevOps team, with a focus on SDLC deployment pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • CI/CD platforms (Jenkins or similar)
    • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
    • Configuration management (Ansible)
    • Bash/Shell scripting
  • Experience supporting CI environments used by development teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify the simplest, most maintainable automation approach, with an eye toward reusable patterns across products and services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to set priorities and evaluate results for individual tasks and collective efforts with some management oversight.
  • Ability to work with urgency while remaining calm and focused during incident response; capable of managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Willingness to participate in pair programming and collaborative development practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Willingness to participate in a mandatory on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred

  • Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
  • Exposure to AWS or other public cloud platforms, particularly using AWS CDK.
  • Familiarity with tooling used in deployment pipelines and to support products like ELK and Grafana.
