Job Accountabilities
Technical Delivery & Operations
- Design, build, and maintain automation for SDLC deployment pipelines, using tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, and Bash/Shell.
- Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot software releases; resolve pipeline and environment issues as they arise, escalating more complex or novel problems as needed.
- Create clean, reusable code and automation patterns for tooling and deployment pipelines — favoring the simplest effective approach so patterns can be reused as new products and services come online.
- Support and maintain CI environments for development teams, ensuring pipelines remain reliable, available, and easy for teams to build against.
- Handle a variety of assignments and requests from cross-functional partners — including development teams, infrastructure teams, datacenter, Helpdesk, and Software Support.
- Part of a rotational team providing on-call operational support for internal and external software products.
Strategic Contribution & Process Improvement
- Identify process improvements that contribute to improved service or reduced cost of operations.
- Anticipate potential problems that could impact the team or end users and develop sound strategies to prevent or reduce negative impacts.
- Collect data and information on critical success factors to evaluate progress against plans.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and remain adaptable, with the ability to ramp up quickly on new tools valued as much as current tool expertise.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Collaborate with teammates, and internal customers when needed, to groom backlogs and plan upcoming development sprints.
- Share technical expertise with colleagues and contribute to a strong sense of team camaraderie.
- Motivate team members through enthusiasm and optimism; contribute to team goals that support the broader TECOPS mission.
- Raise questions, blockers, or concerns early so issues can be resolved in a timely manner.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience on a Linux-based DevOps team, with a focus on SDLC deployment pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with:
- CI/CD platforms (Jenkins or similar)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Configuration management (Ansible)
- Bash/Shell scripting
- Experience supporting CI environments used by development teams.
- Demonstrated ability to identify the simplest, most maintainable automation approach, with an eye toward reusable patterns across products and services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to set priorities and evaluate results for individual tasks and collective efforts with some management oversight.
- Ability to work with urgency while remaining calm and focused during incident response; capable of managing multiple competing priorities.
- Willingness to participate in pair programming and collaborative development practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
- Adaptability and eagerness to learn new tools and technologies.
- Willingness to participate in a mandatory on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred
- Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
- Exposure to AWS or other public cloud platforms, particularly using AWS CDK.
- Familiarity with tooling used in deployment pipelines and to support products like ELK and Grafana.
