Teacher Aide

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Teacher, the Aide assists the classroom staff in implementing individualized goals and objectives set forth in partnership with the Parent/Guardian and the Teaching staff for children identified as needing additional guidance within the classroom environment. The Aide will participate in regular communication with staff regarding children and with parents/guardians. The Aide will support classroom and playground supervision to ensure the safety of every child. The Aide will be a floater between the classrooms as assigned or needed.

Essential Functions

1. Observes and records specific behavioral data as well as targeted goals and objectives as directed by the Teacher.

2. Routinely communicates observations and progress with program staff.

3. Adapts planned activities, materials, and equipment to facilitate participation by special needs children.

4. Helps promote communication, play, and socialization with classmates.

5. Performs required care-giving activities for children as necessary (i.e. feeding, toileting, dressing, etc.)

6. Implements behavior management techniques and monitors progress and effectiveness as directed by the teacher.

7. Assists staff in implementing curriculum and individualized goals for the special needs children to promote growth and learning in all developmental areas.

8. Encourage parental involvement into the program and maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians in a professional and respectful manner, with confidentiality.

9. Additional classroom duties as assigned by Teacher in conducting day-to-day site activities.

10. Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

1. Maintain a valid, unrestricted California Driver’s license and ability to be insurable under CRIHB’s automobile insurance.

2. Position requires occasional overnight travel within CRIHB’s service area.

3. Requires ability to drive up to seven (7) hours a day.
