Teacher Aide (NFS Unit) — Bendemeer Secondary School

Contract: 1 January to 31 December 2027. Service is required in January to May, July to October, 1–18 and 25–30 June, and 1–19 November 2027. Option period: 1 January to 31 December 2028. Service is required in January to May, July to October, 1–16 and 23–30 June, and 1–17 November 2028.

Working hours

Monday to Thursday, 7:30am–4:00pm. Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm. No service on Saturdays, Sundays or gazetted public holidays. Weekly scheduled hours are 42 hours; lunch duration is not specified.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a school kitchen or a similar working environment.

• GCE N-Level certification.

• Ability to operate ovens, cookers, blenders, steamers and other kitchen equipment safely.

• Confident use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and ability to email suppliers under the supervising teacher’s direction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients, replenish supplies and assist teachers and pupils during practical lessons, including use of appliances and immediate cleaning of spills.

• Clean kitchen tables, sinks, cookers and floors, empty bins and maintain kitchen appliances and the washing machine.

• Maintain food hygiene and safe storage. Remove spoiled or expired food and sanitise refrigerators.

• Store sharp objects safely, account for utensils and equipment, and turn off taps, electrical points and gas supplies when not in use.

• Replenish ingredients and dry goods, organise kitchen and storeroom equipment, update labels and posters, and assist with asset stocktaking.
