Teacher Assistant F/T Daycare

Position Summary

To assist with lead teacher planned activities, implement IEP/IFSP programs according to teacher prescribed methods and document student progress accurately. Provide direct care. Administer medications. Implement daily activities as outlined in teacher plans. Document student progress.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Implement program plans according to prescribed methods, and document student’s progress accurately.
2. Attend in-service training as mandated, and apply acquired knowledge in the day-to-day performance of the role.
3. Report any relevant changes noted in the student’s performance and any medical concerns to Lead Teacher.
4. Be aware of areas in which individuals require assistance, and give this assistance without direct supervision.
5. Provide basic first aid.
6. Follow Emergency Plan as needed.
7. Follow universal Precautions and OSHA Guidelines related to Exposure to Blood and Body Fluids.
8. Monitor individuals carefully and bring to the attention of the Lead Teacher any pertinent observations or concerns about individual health care needs.
9. Promptly follow up on Lead Teacher instructions/recommendations.
10. Converse with students, using proper voice tone, tolerance and patience, and maintain zoning.
11. Have knowledge of individual’s rights and ensure that rights are respected.
12. Respect privacy and confidentiality of each student.
13. Attend staff meetings and contribute to problem identification and solution.
14. Demonstrate a working knowledge of NC Division of Child Development rules and regulations.
15. Seek out information needed to perform duties by following the proper chain of command.
16. Work closely with co-workers, and communicate information accurately.
17. Complete assigned tasks and, when needed, be willing to complete special tasks.
18. Provide daily direct care of students: changing diapers, cleaning, feeding or assist with feeding, and specific child plans.
19. Designated shifts may change due to enrollment times of children.
