Main Role & Working Relationships
Core Focus: Provide operational and administrative support for Science lessons, while assisting other departments (English, Mother Tongue, Math, CCE, CCA, and Admin) as needed.
Supervision: Works primarily under the HOD (Science) during curriculum hours.
Job Scope & Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning Resources: Prepare, cut, laminate, and organize materials for Science lessons, assessments, competitions, and general departmental resources (including maintaining the Science Lab and MakerSpace, and preparing for school relocation).
Classroom & Lesson Support: Set up apparatus before lessons, assist teachers during class with material distribution and student monitoring, and communicate proactively with the HOD and level reps.
Department Programs & Events: Handle logistics, setup, and teardown for Science and cross-departmental activities, events, celebrations, and enrichment programs. Support the daily maintenance of the Eco Makers Club food digestor.
Ad-Hoc Support: Provide recess relief coverage at the library, assist the General Office with receptionist duties (calls and walk-in visitors), and manage general administrative tasks.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Demands: Involves regular physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and setting up equipment.
Environment: Requires adaptability, organization, and comfort interacting with students and staff across multiple departments.
Working Hours & Schedule
Standard Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break
Overtime: Extra hours requested by the school are compensated through Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) upon prior agreement.
Services are not required on weekends, public holidays, and during the June and December school holiday periods.
Personnel are placed on unpaid leave during June and December with no salary or leave accrual. However, the school may request work during the last week of December by mutual agreement, which will be compensated accordingly.
Key Requirements
Qualifications: Minimum Secondary, GCE 'O' or 'A' Levels certificate or equivalent.
Experience & Status: Prior experience in a primary school science room is preferred; must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Work Skills & Traits: Capable of working independently, multitasking, prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and collaborating as a team.
Physical & Personal Attributes: Able to handle physical tasks (lifting, carrying, and setting up equipment), possess a pleasant personality with strong interpersonal skills, and maintain high standards of integrity and work ethic.
